Is the G1 worth getting? Is it really good? What are some of its flaws? What are some good things about it?

Depends. What are you looking for your phone to do?
I'd read the reviews and go test one out.
But here is my opinion- Android is about to explode- you will soon see a flurry of phones coming out starting in July. Or at least that's what people are expecting- Acer, HTC Magic, HTC Hero, Samsung, Motorola, etc. So why not wait and see what else is out there?
Yeah I totally agree i'm going to wait for more of the android phones to come out.
If you buy a New phone that few people have bought or tried ... you will have a lot less support and reviews to go on ....
True, but the next one up is the HTC magic which is getting reviewed now and has the same hardware/software as the G1
The rest of the phones, I'd wait a month or two to see what the phone is like.
For the most part, I just go to gizmodo, engadget, cnet and get a blend of their reviews, plus the fanboy forums of the phone to get an idea of a phone, plus testing the phone out in person.
Very true. But this is a unique time in Android's history. It got off to a slow start with the G1 and now several phones are coming out, this is the real start of Android so I'd wait. Next year if somebody says, "should I buy x phone or wait?" I'd just say get the phone because new phones will always be comin gout. And There will probably be other new phones always on the horizon ....
And don't forget- the internal memory is in the MBs for the G1.
OK, first we're gonna start with a bit of background here. I've had a cellphone since 2002 (I'm only 24 so...). Since then i've probably owned about 60 phones, at least 20-30 of those being smartphones. I've had Motorola's, Samsungs, Nokias, Palms, Sony/Ericcson's, Siemens, BlackBerries, the iPhone, other HTC phones and i'm probably missing some. As far as mobile OS's, i've used WM (2003, 5, 6, 6.1), PalmOS, iPhone OS, BlackBerry OS, Symbian and again, probably missing some here too.
That being said, the G1 is the best phone i've ever owned BY FAR. The ONLY complaints that i can't really call complaints are:
1. The battery life isn't grea, but that doesn't bother me. My phone is on a charger at work and at home so it's probably only off the charger for like 4hrs a day, if that.
2. I wish i could tether without rooting over something other than USB.
Those are my only 2 not big complaints with the phone. If the battery thing is a issue for you, you can buy a battery with double the life of the standard battery for $25.
I could go into how amazing the G1 is with ShopSavvy and Locale and all the other really, really cool apps, buf if you look around on the interweb a bit, you can see many other reviews of the really cool apps.
Honestly though...If my G1 failed tomorrow, i would go right out to a T-Mobile store and buy another one.
