Cannot boot into clockworkmod recovery

Hi guys,

I'm running Villainrom 2.4, KG6

Trying to flash to Villainrom 2.5 KI4 but cannot boot into cwm recovery. I've tried it through rom manager and the cmw (4.0.1.5) and the three button way.

but it just keeps booting into android recovery. I'm at a loss.
I can't find any apk either to reinstall cwm on the phone if that would actually help I'm unsure.

I haven't done anything else I'm aware that would have caused me to not be able to boot into cwm recovery.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated guys, I've followed every step-by-step to the letter thus far.

Have you ever flashed another kernel to get rid of the yellow warning triangle after you rooted your phone?

I'm just checking that you have not lost root.

Is Titanium Backup Pro or CWM working for you... i.e can you do backups?

Yes I did follow another guide to get rid of the yellow triangle on start up.

If you mean can I create a back up from the menu in cwm then yeah it appears to work, though it isn't clockwork mod it's android recovery it goes. Says copied media files etc and then i just hit boot.

And thanks for jumping in with some help, much obliged.

And maybe should I try something other than VR? I chose it because I was told it was stable but maybe I should check out another. But cwm first obviously.

Ok chief did that and now I can access clockwork mod, cheers for you help.

If I can stretch your expertise a bit more, what do you reckon of the revolution rom? I would have to flash to KI3 but that's cool. What are your thoughts?

Read the bit about coming to it from another ROM in FAQ's.

Personally, I use the CWM .zip file and flash it from Recovery for both the ROM and kernel.

Before doing anything... make a CWM backup. This is your "get out of jail free" card if things go wrong.

Also, if you have Titanium Backup Pro installed, do a full backup with that too.

The key to successful flashing is not to rush at it like a bull at a gate and to read and inwardly digest everything about it.

Motto: There's a right way to do it and loads of wrong ways to balls it up!

Wow, videos thank you so much man. You've been extremely helpful and patient. Cheers.

B*gger! I must be slipping. :D

If the moderator, Slug, gets to hear about this I'll be drummed out of the forum.

(seriously, we were all newbies once... I still am)

ok dude one more I choose yes-wipe all user data to perform full wipe?

That's correct. When you are in Recovery you will see the option to Wipe Data/Factory reset. You will then lose everything on the phone but not the internal SD Card. You also need to wipe the Dalvik cache and Battery Stats too.

shit how do i do that? I've already rebooted. also what about restoring the back up of the apps with titanium do i download from the market and it picks up what Iv'e saved?

I think I mentioned, "bull at a gate" earlier!

Titanium Backup Pro should have been installed and used prior to you wiping so that a back-up of your app's, data and settings could be saved and then restored after you flashed the ROM and re-installed Titanium from the Market. See post #15.

and for some reason the vibrate only symbol is on the notifaction bar even though sound is on!

This is a feature of the ROM. It displays battery vibrate symbol when battery vibrate is activated. I use JKays Deluxe settings v13.1 to get rid of it and apply other tweaks.

but i can't connect to kies!

Why do you need to connect to Kies?

If you mean connecting to Kies in the future... then it is one of the downloadable mods in the Kitchen app in your app drawer. Along with kernels, themes, modems, etc; etc; that you can install.
