Root WMV and AVI support?

I was using Joneidy Sense ROM and happily watching various videos (.avi and .wmv mostly). I decided to try CM7.1 BobZ and now I have no support for these video formats (mp4 in the correct resolution is fine). I can see the videos in file manager, but they don''t play. I've tried Meridien and a few other players and they all have the same results.

Android doesn't support these file types, I found out, but how was I watching them in the first place? Did froyo support .wmv and .avi and Gingerbread doesn't?

Have you tried yxplayer?

joneidys sense is based off of the stock rom which includes divx support and wma support. the stock rom supported most files types, IE the codec were included int he rom, in CM7 the codec for alot fo that stuff arent included and you need to use a video player that has those codecs built in.
