Hello,

For those of you who have the GSM version of the Nexus I had a question...

For the new messaging app, is there an option to have new incoming texts to appear in a "pop-up" type alert like Handcent or Go Messenger apps do? that's really the only reason I use those custom apps,for the convenience factor.

no, no popup alert unfortunately. you just get an LED notification.

It's funny how iOS has seemingly surpassed Android in notifications... I like having an LED for convenience but Android really needs to light up the screen when new things come in so I don't have to press the power button a million times a day.

iOS has always had the light up feature as far as i'm aware. you can use SMS popup, as well as some other apps, MIUI also has this standard. it's just something that still needs to be implemented natively on AOSP.
