For some reason I can't type in market and facebook. When I push the box section that takes me to the area to type it lights up but doesn't go to the area.
 
A little more information may be useful. When you touch the text box, does the onscreen keyboard slide up? Is this an issue within just the two applications mentioned?

I'm no expert on the matter, but I'd probably go into the 'Manage Applications' menu, choose the application and uninstall the updates first. Try the older version. And if that works, re-install the application again. Or completely uninstall the app and re-install.

The other thing which I'll recommend is to restart the phone. Turn it off, pull the battery for a couple of minutes and re-insert. Phones are usually kept on for weeks and one often forgets a simple step like this clears the memory on restart and corrects some of the issues caused by misbehaving apps.
 
Also maybe worth trying is holding down the menu button (long press) when you want the keyboard to come up.
Just out of curiosity, go into settings>language&keyboard>input method and what do you see there?
 
Thanks for the replies. It's with any program I use the keyboard for text, market, IE and FB.

I get language settings, select language and keyboard settings (can't change anything in keyboard settings).
 
Long-pressing the menu button does nothing?
Are you rooted?

Try installing a 3rd party keyboard. Swype is a good one. Google it to get the installer as it isn't in tha app Market. Or just grab some other one from the Market.
