Help Spam messages

twice over the past few days i have had a green plus sign appear in my status bar at top of screen. When i drag the bar down and click on the message it takes me to a web page stating i have won an iphone 4. I think it is headed up as android giveaways. Anyone any idea who this is, it is not a text message so i cant block the number. Anyone know how to stop this.
 
never heard of it before, sounds weird..
maybe try using Lookout app, and scan your phone for malwares or something?

You can blacklist numbers
settings>call>call rejection>black list

I'm not 100% sure if this will also reject incoming sms tho. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than myself will confirm this before too long
 
got it, thanks. Ive been getting alot of spam sms's from some company here that sells cctv equipment, which i have no use for, they were sending me these sms's for a few months but now they have a huge sell-off or something so im getting one every couple of hours... ill tell you if it stops, thanks.
 
I know certain apps can do this, you might want to check some of your apps and look at reviews to see if anyone else is having the same problem.
 
Thanks folks, Got an answer from google when i searched for "green plus sign android". i then downloaded an app called addons detector. Got it to scan all of my apps for push addons. Found an mp3 downloader i had installed previously was the culprit so deleted it. Hopefully problem now solved. Thanks again for your input.

I may noy have the correct names here, but it sounds like they are coming from someone/something called "Airpush" They send notifications to your "Notification Bar" I downloaded an app from the market called "Airpush detector" and scanned with it. It found the problem and I deleted the guilty app.

Air push was the culprit. The app I downloaded can be used to find it and other potential problem apps.
 
Ya i get a green plus thing at the top not. bar and also ads about kim kardashian etc.

I believe its my mp3 download doing it. but I like it and need it and they got rid of Gtunes on the market it seems so i dont know any other app to download music?? :(
 
these are not text messages so no number is available. Its is simply a green cross, when you drag down the bar and click on it to get rid of it, a web page opens up, usually some dodgy web site. There was no way of black listing or blocking it. Only solution was to run the app and delete the mp3 download program. Other than that would have just had to put up with it.
 
I had this problem and I also had mp3 downloader. Got rid of it using AirPush but that app crashed on me. I had already deleted some of my apps that was running in the background most the time but don’t think I had spotted mp3 downloader.

Didn’t want to say anything at first just in case anybody thought I had some of the revolting apps that spam would normally come from. lol
