Help [Q] Data Speeds

I'm curious if my data speeds are normal... I have a pretty steady 2 bars and -85ish dbs at my home and with speedtest.net using usb tether I get about 200kbps download and 300+ kbps upload... I don't have the updated prl either I may flash back to stock and change it... but those are my results... I was wondering if that seems about right. Also for some reason the speedtest.net connected to a server in Kansas even though I'm in Washington...

As a comparison I get 600-700 kbs download and 300-500 kbs upload with 5 bars. So as you have 2 bars this seems about right :D.

i get about 80-100 kbps! you guys suck!!! LOL JK

that is when i have 3 bars all the time too! but i called vm for a replacement, so hopefully i get luck and i get 1) a newer phone model and 2) the 3g speeds were somehow the device and the new one has great speeds. :D

Haha! jk well its kinda funny... when I was first doing the speedtest.net I didn't realize my phone was still connected to wifi when it went into usb tether so i was getting like 10-20mbps download and 2-3mbps upload. I almost made a thread about that... That would've been embarrassing :o. So VM speeds basically just suck... I remember trying to watch youtube videos on my rumor touch... not fun buffer like every 5 secs...

I average about 300 - 400kb download in the house.. Then 1000- 1200kb download outside around the area.. (on certain hours.. Maybe 600kb-800kb most half of the time). Though yes when it hits 5:00pm it will be 140-230kb lol but it varies of course!

Also Yours seems about right.. I get those results too with time usually being the factor (or location)!

How do you get a mb download? The most I've been able to reach is like 700 kbps :( although I'm going to update my PRL and see if that does anything... I'll post my comparisons to the stock PRL. I just have to flash to my stock nandriod backup change it and go back to miui...

I get 800kbs download to 400kbs upload on 3 bars with a prl switch I followed through VirginMobileGuy at android central:) worked awesome!

Here's the link to switching your prl : forums.androidcentral.com/motorola-triumph-virgin-mobile/130101-motorola-triumph-upgrades.html
It worked great for me.:)

So after switching my prl i get about the same maybe 1dBm or 2 more... but way worse data speeds I got like 100kbps download at -88dBm compared to around 300-400 at -90ish dBm with the stock prl... I'm going to look at more sprint PRLs that would affect me where I am... I was wondering if anyone know would I be able to flash a verizon PRL and have it work?

Well, I don't know if you could even flash it, but even if you could, you wouldn't authenticate on their towers and would have no service.

So i tried it just to see what would happen and it flashed, but no 3g and my signal bars are full but my dBm is at -120??? And when I try to make a call it drops down to no bars... Oh well worth a try... I'll just have to try some of sprint's other PRLs to see if any of them work better...

So I tested some sprint prls and speedtest app on stock and this is what I got with them all around 2 bars and the dBm wasn't updating on some of them or something since they were at -120... I will add more as I test more and this is just for me so your results may vary... These are all approximate and it may change depending on the time of day... The ones that dont have a download or upload speed are ones that wouldn't work with speednet because of random signal dropping and the such. So I wouldn't use any of the 2xxxx ones personally, but maybe they would work better for you...

prls Down Up
01115 100 600
01119 100 500
60675 350 400
60676 200 400
60677 110 129

20216 fluctuates
20219 fluctuates
20220 switches to 1x
20221 fluctuates
20222 230 300 signal drops randomly
20223 200 400 lost signal randomly
20224 150 350 signal drops randomly
20225 fluctuates
20226 200 300 fairly steady signal
20227 Signal drops randomly
20229 100 100 low signal but steady
20230 signal drops randomly
20231 dropped to 1x
20232 dropped to 1x
20233 2-3 bars but stayed at 1x
60614 steady 2 bars stayed at 1x only
60674 200 300 fairly steady 2 bars and 3g Keeping this one for now

Also does anyone know how I could combine all the prls into one prl?
And if anyone wants I can zip these all and upload them to mediafire for you to test yourself.

My download speed with signal bar or -113 dbm (Stock PRL) at my house.

 Holy F***! You sure that's that your stock prl...?
And that looks kinda photoshopped to me... The exact same results including where your speeds spiked and dropped...

yes there is a prl you can flash to the motorola triumph that will give you access to some Verizon network. This being this prl is called 01115. All this does for you is by switching prl it attaches to the nearest sprint tower,so yes you can be on stock and have good download and upload speeds depending how close you are to there stock towers. Most people should have better downloads speeds living in the east rather than the west.

That might explain my speeds since I live in the west... Also the 01115 prl sucked although it did have a really good upload speed for me, but not very good signal...

Yes I have been on prl 01115 for some time know it does suck when you have 1-2 bars but once you get 3-5 bars it works its charm
