Have you done a factory reset on you Atrix? If you did, did that help?
My atrix worked great for the 7-8 months that I had it. On Friday, I had charged it overnight on the wall charger. (Original one that came with the phone.) Didn't really use it during the morning, but sent a few texts on it at lunch time. When I got back to work, I plugged it into the USB to hold the charge for that afternoon. It was still at 80% or so when I plugged it in. When I got home, I looked at it to see if I had any new emails. The green light was flashing at me. When I tried to unlock it, it would not respond. The screen stayed black. I pulled the battery and put it back in. The phone would attempt to reboot, but would appear to get stuck. It would stay on that screen for a minute or two and then go black again. It would be unresponsive unless I did a battery pull. Tried this numerous times. Sometimes it would get far enough into the boot that I would see the top bar and even my weather information would scroll across the top. Once I got to where it wanted me to slide to unlock it, but the touchscreen would not respond.
I took it to the AT&T store and they couldn't figure out anything else to do. They did notice that the back seemed to be getting hot around the SIM card. Suggestion was to cool the phone and battery off while separated and then if I could get the phone to fully boot, to do a factory reset. I could not get the phone to come back on.
So, they had me call the AT&T warranty division. I was on the phone with them 30 minutes. (They were very nice.) We went through everything they knew of. We tried doing the external hard reset. It would get to the step where you were supposed to tap the screen, but it would not register the taps. Tried it where you hold the vol up and down at the same time and it would not respond.
The phone never tried to shut down during these steps, so I don't think it is anything battery related. I did repeat everything later while plugged into a wall charger and got the same result.
They are sending me out another phone. (Probably refurbished.) It is waiting for me at the house now. I then have 14 days for them to receive my nonworking phone.
No new apps, no unusual apps, not rooted... don't know what caused it...

wow! I can't believe that happened :< That is REALLY strange! Did you update any apps that night as an updated app is a 'fresh' installation of the apk.
Hopefully you'll have no issues with you new Atrix

Not that I remember. I only had a handful of apps and none were on automatic update. Seems like facebook had to do an update not too long ago, but I don't really see that causing it.
New (to me) phone seems to be working just fine so far (been 2 days now).
I don't know if they follow up with any kind of feedback on what they found out with the phone or not. If I do hear anything, I'll be sure to post it.
My son has an atrix and has had multiple problems. This is his 3rd atrix replacement and he is still experiencing the same types of problems.

Hi MCrawford and welcome to AndroidForums
Did the phone lag right out of the box with no third party apps downloaded? If that's the case, then there's something wrong with that Atrix's OS. I have no such issue with mine and haven't read a lag as bad as your son's Atrix. If this is the case, then you should go back to get that model replaced. So, if I'm correct all 3 Atri all have such lags?
If you noticed the lags AFTER your son downloaded some apps, then it might be the app itself causing the lag. This might be due to it being codded incorrectly and using resources when it is not being used.

Sorry to here about all the problems. It could be there are a lot of apps runnining in the back ground and a lot of widgets. Remember, these phones are really small computers and when you give it to much to do at once, it will start to do funny things and even run really slow. (Even the Atrix 4G). Look into the stock task manager and see whats running. Check the running applications list and see what apps are using CPU and Ram and how much RAM is left.
Hey everyone, a few days ago I started having the most annoying problem with my Atrix 4G. I plugged it into my computer to sync it with itunes again..when I unplugged it nothing in the middle of my screen works unless it is in the horizontal orientation. For example, on my keyboard 'R', 'T', 'G', 'H', & 'V' don't work. In the music player, i can't select play or pause, anything centred on the screen or in that region.
I have no idea what is going on. I've tried so many things even a hard reset...still nothing. Hopefully someone out there knows what this is and how to fix it.

Had the phone for 4 months, everything works perfectly, but last week the earpiece on the phone suddenly burnt out or something and I can't talk on it without using the speakerphone or a headset. I brought it back to the service center, which was unable to resolve the problem with simple repair, so they gave me a (i assume) refurbished unit as replacement. 48 hours later, I'm heading back to the service center with the same burnt earpiece problem on the new phone...
does anyone else have this same problem?

What are you using to sync your music to iTune? Have you tried a 3rd party player? PlayerPro and PowerAmp are pretty popular.

It's everywhere though, not just in the music player. The most annoying however, is with the keyboard. I just find it weird how it works when its horizontal but not if I'm holding the phone up right. I've tried probably 4 or 5 different third party keyboards and its always the same keys.
I've deleted all everything third party too to see if maybe it was one of those..still no luck, 3 hard resets...still no luck. lol I just don't get it.

Are you rooted? If not, then I would think that something is wrong with your phone as you have done everything in trying to troubleshoot it. I would suggest that you take it to wherever you got it and claim that your phone is malfunctioning and claim it under warranty.
No I'm not rooted. I was afraid of that, I went to Bell yesterday and they are TERRIBLE they want $35 to send out an in-warranty non-physical damaged phone, what a joke. I can't believe I used to work for them.

just wondering has anyone had a problem with the OS not responding? loads everything up and then small sqaure boxes pop up saying google unresponding, click ok, motorola unresponding, click ok, bluetooth unresponding, click ok and then the phone shuts down. Reboots and does the samething over and over again until i take the battery out and then it stops, but it happens like once a month.

Has anyone experienced music skipping at all? It used to happen only a couple of times a day but it get's worse and worse and it's non stop now, almost every song stutters/skips for a few seconds. I listen to music every day and it gets quite annoying. Has anyone found a fix or a way around the problem by any chance?

Have had the Moto Atrix for two months. I am getting a music transfer error while using Motorola Media Link. If anyone has suggestions on how to fix it please reply. And another thing, what is the average battery life for this phone? Mine seems to be around 12 hours on standby, with no background running apps.
Found a quick fix to music transfer errors. Used Moto Helper and reinstalled drivers. Music transfer is working smoothly.

Try changing the setting on your phone to only use 2G instead of 3G.

Just found this thread via a google search. Im currently on my 3rd ATRIX. My first one I had dead touch screen areas and the phantom finger issue. This second one the charger port had missing prongs and wasnt charging. Im still having issues with this 3rd one even though I have a new phone and a new usb cord. I put in a call to motorola and they are sending me a new ac adapter power supply and hopefully that resolves it. If not Im done with this phone. Ive only had it since June and its been a hassle since then

I have a solid red LED light on my phone. Its NOT the notification light. Its to the left of it. Its smaller than the notification light. What the hell is it? I can't seem to figure out why its there. Just started yesterday. I've had this phone since october. Help?

Do you mean the power button?You're not rooted are you?
Atrix is known to get hot. Do you have multiple apps running or maybe one app running for a long period of time? Try adding as many apps to the auto kill list as possible. That way when your screen goes into standby, it will end apps and hopefully make your battery less hot. Maybe your phone just has a fever? Lol

I've noticed the same light too. On mine it was that the battery was at or below 5%. Went away once phone was charged.
