Root [Q] Porting a rom

Does anyone know how to port a rom onto the MT? I've tried following guides and replacing files and folders and editing the buil.prop, but then I get a status 7 error in cwm and it saying somthing about the buil.prop even though I have edited to say the right info for the MT... Any help is appreciated.

yeah the guides didn't help me either so i gave up..........for now anyway

EDIT: i'd love to see a Triumph specific guide on porting or Rom making
