Hell yeah! That's maybe as close as we'll get to a Desire on Verizon...and I think I'm ok with that. I was kinda planning to not root or hack my next phone but for sense on a N1 it'd probably be worth it.
I've also been thinking for those that go for the N1 rather than the Incredible, ya think there's any way to still cash in a new every 2 credit....with Verizon and Googles new ETF I'm trying to find a loophole to get my $100.

I really doubt you can use your NE2, if you are buying the phone from Google directly.

HTC Desire ROM gets ported to Nexus One, brings Sense with it | Android Central

This looks promising. I could live with the Nexus. However, I would love to have that great looking HTC Desire on VZW.

The thing is, on crap networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, they have to have the best phones because they don't have coverage. On VZW, they feel that it isn't necessary because, hey, we are all not willing to switch, and VZW knows that. So they can release whatever they want -- good or bad -- because we will stay with them.

:) If I had a dollar for every time Ruben has said how much he wants that Desire on VZW, I'd have enough money for a plane ticket to fly to the UK and get him one! :D

I think the key is a lot of people are waiting for a Android device from Verizon worth owning. The two they currently have sure are not.

You bet. I can't make myself more clear to say how much I would love to have it...you know the rest.

Anyway, when the HTC guy said that it would be up with most of their main networks on all countries, was he actually saying the Desire itself, or a different variant? He did say something like, "I am proud to say that a record high or our key partner networks in every country have accepted the Desire." I am, of course, paraphrasing, but I'm gonna focus on that.

Agreed, hence finding a loophole to not lose the $100 credit. I've been shocked how much Eris's are going for without contract on ebay, which got me thinking... if I could use my NE2 to get a Eris, dump it on ebay to subsidize the purchase of a N1. But I don't know how exactly the ETF works if you're just activating a different phone:confused:
This is all based on the possibility that the Incredible doesn't deliver on it's name or N1 being released first.

And just for the record, after playing this guessing/waiting game with Verizon and HTC before, I don't think Verizon will see the Desire at all, nor will it become our Nexus 1. The Incredible maybe a sibling but will have a unique look specific for Verizon....ie. Hero and Eris. Just my opinion.

I think no matter what Verizon needs to do something fast. Its sad when people are entertaining the idea of t-mobile over Verizon, but I can honestly say I have looked and read some reviews of their service myself. I will say though Verizon while expensive has been great to me for years so I sit and wait for them to offer a phone worth picking up. I will also have a really hard time leaving my BB Tour.

...and that is exactly why Verizon doesn't care if you get your phone soon or not.

True, but service matters. Sadly I know in my area the only other carrier worth entertaining is Sprint and they are not offering much either.

You also can't rule out whatever deal Verizon worked with Motorola. They may have committed a specific time to the Droid. They all do it as well as volume commitments. Now why anyone would bank anything on any device made my Motorola is beyond me but thats a whole separate conversation.

i was also wondering about that.... i hope they get the desire and we just need to wait till CTIA to find out if we are or not. Any way you put it desire, incredible or nexus one(in the order i perfer) one of them for sure or maybe all three will be coming to verizon. we just dont know yet. but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter soon we will be out and in the know

I think one or more has to be coming soon.. I do like the idea of a Nexus with a touchpad vs trackball but people say they never use it anyways.

Messaging and profile management are a much larger concern...

Ok, so I email Phil Nickinson from Android Central.
Hey since your at the MWC could you tell me if they have the Htc incredible being
shown there? I know it is a variation of the bravo and the nexus one. I would really like to know about the ram/rom on the Incredible. Any info would be cool thanks. Just
to add I love the website and appreciate all the work you guys are doing.

The response
No Incredible. Next month at CTIA, maybe. We'll be there.
Sent by Android on a Nexus One.

March 23-25. Verizon wireless will be in booth 1034. (I looked it up on the CTIA website.) Maybe then we will get the news we want.

- Very good information...maybe it is CTIA that we're all waiting for. I honestly think the Incredible is our Desire...would I prefer the Euro version, that'll be a "wait and see" answer. We all know something is coming to Verizon based on the splash screen on the Incredible video unit; it's just a matter of what it'll look like. The edges are more square on the unit we saw, assuming it will look like that, and the HW buttons were replaced with the capacitive buttons. I am sure Verizon wants to keep some uniformity with their Android units, so they are identifiable.

Not sure if the phone will be released in March/April, but my gut feeling is it will be announced with a short wait for release. I do believe that Verizon is getting the point on not waiting to release a powerful (sought after) phone. We know the network is the best; so now the phones need to be to take the wind out of AT&T.

Thoughts?

I keep looking at the images of the Incredible and then images of the Desire. The dual flashes on the back of the Incredible, the larger lens, the meatier back... I wouldn't be surprised if the Incredible ends up being the more feature rich of the two.

As for looks, oh well. I like the idea of having a monstorous looking phone as long as it kicks major ass to anything else around.

i agree, i just wish it wasn't so rectangular like the iphone. maybe that'll change like the bravo-to-desire, but if there's already videos of it, that might not be possible.

correct me if I'm wrong but, if Sense gets modded onto the N1 then you would essentially have a Desire...and since the N1 is coming to Verizon then you got a Verizon version of the desire with a few minor differences correct?

sure, if you dont mind risking bricking your phone :)

I agree, that is the way a phone should look though!

no doubt, I do think it looks better...my thing is since every Verizon phone has its unique look but is essentially the same phone as another phone on another network and the Desire is essentially the same phone as the N1 and the N1 is confirmed to come to verizon couldn't the desire very well be verizons N1?

not to mention does anybody really know when that video was actually shot of the "incredible" maybe it could be older and they already redesigned it to the desire idk just saying...I really just do not see a whole design team looking at that phone with that red back and them all agreeing man this thing is sexy

The date on the phone was Feb. 6

damn, there goes my theory well looks like they should've just put all the cool stuff on the incredible into this phone and call it the "incredible"

I honestly don't think I will be holding out another month just for INFORMATION, not even an actual PHONE, just info about it...and that's a MAYBE on the info.
Guess I will be picking up an Eris next week.

Ding, Ding, Ding. Bingo. that's why I'm very patient with people who ask "should I wait or get the droid" and I'm pi$$ed at those who say "you'll never have the newest because something new is always coming out. THAT'S NOT THE POINT. The point is that while the Droid and Eris may be nice, they're definitely not top tier.

No. The Desire is not the Nexus One for Verizon. I'll bet you all my money on that. The Desire is the competitor of the Nexus. The Nexus was made by google and will always look like that with the Google plain Android 2.1 (which isn't that bad).

I'm not doubting you on that boss, as you seem like the guy that is the one of the experts on here and I'm just throwing things out there but, correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't HTC make the Nexus one for google?
