Mp3s downloading as Bin.. still no answers. help

MP3s are being saved as .BIN files --
1.bin
2.bin
etc.

It isn't the webpage that is at fault, since it saves to all other browsers/operating systems just fine.

I've seen a topic similar to this only two or three times using Google -- but there was never an answer. Once, there was an answer "rename the file" but that's not what I'm after. I'd like to know what causes it.

Thanks,

Matthew

Don't know if it'll work, but have you tried just renaming the file extension to read as whatever it is you need it to? Most file explorers in the Market should have the ability for you to do so.

True, the contents of the files are fine, but this isn't a very good solution for potentially hundreds of customers who might download products from our website.

I'd like to at least know what to tell them -- WHY the files are saving with such strange names. Is it a particular browser?

I'm having this same problem, but not able to rename the file and play... It starts out aa a 33mb mp3 and downloads as a 26kb .bin file. Once renamed I get a simple "cannot play file" error. Anyone know what I can do?

mp3 file downloads as a bin file. I can't seam to get any answers. I signed up to this forum to write my issue but here it is already asked but with no answers. Very weird. I thought all answers were on the internet.

Can someone tell us why mp3 files are loading as bin files on our Androids? I've looked everywhere that I could think of to try to change settings on how files get downloaded but no luck. Also for me this doesn't happen with all files. Just some. So when i download an mp3 file i have to cross my fingers and pray it downloads as mp3 and not bin.

Now if not an answer to that ... how can we extract or whatever this bin file? ?? And in simple terms please. Im not very technical :).

Changing the name ( no option to do that either ) does not help.

Thanks for your time!

I'll be interested to hear if an answer ever surfaces. I haven't had this happen since at least Gingerbread but I've experienced this many times in the past for both .mp3 and .apk files. You guys might try using a different browser and/or try a different emulation mode in your browser settings, if applicable. Not sure what to suggest other than to mix it up and see what gives.

Hi aikkid. It would probably help if you'd give more specific details. How are you downloading them? Through Google Play/ Amazon MP3 store/ the browser? If it's browser, which is kind of what I'm thinking, is it stock browser or 3rd party browser? What is your phone and OS version? Stuff like that.

If it's just an every once in a while thing, have you tried using a file explorer app and changing the extension from .bin to .mp3?

thank you thank you. with little info, you still managed to provide some valuable information. "changing the name" to mp3 DID work. what made it work this time, as i said i'm not a technical person ... so by you saying have you tried "using explorer" to rename, it made me think that maybe i have to use something other than "my downloads" or music file section to see if i can manipulate this file. soooooooooooo... i went to my list of apps and there was a "my files" folder and in it, sure enough, this bin file was there and had many many more options for renaming, saving etc.

i have a rzr max on verizon and a gingerbread operating system. if this is the right thing to tell you lol. and yes, your suspicions were correct. it was a 3rd party website. i was trying to download from a website where a friend would post an mp3. so is there something i can change on my phone to prevent these files coming in as a bin file and ALWAYS download in mp3 format??

Download "Astro File Manager", find the file, press and hold it, press the three dots on the top right, press "rename" and replace the "bin" as "mp3" I had the same problem and this fixed it
