Help Can't type some letters anymore (might be screen issue)

Hi,
since yesterday I'm not able to type a few characters,
I cant type "n","j","i" & "u" anymore. Ive already uninstalled Swype and Swiftkey but the problem remains. in qwerty keyboards these letter are in the same vertical line.
the funny thing is with a 90 degree rotation to left or right everything works fine. I think the problem may be related to something other than the keyboard entirely.
my android version is 2.3.6

=============
edit: this in fact is a screen issue!
after using a painting app just now, ive found out i cannot draw any vertical line in that specific area which also includes "n", "u" and "J" on the keyboard area. but any non-vertical line will be drawn without any problem.
if there is anything I can to about this please advice.
thank you

It sounds like a portion of your screen's digitizer (the touch sensitive part) has died. If you're within your return period, just exchange it for a new one. If you're passed your return period, you'll have to contact Samsung and have them repair it under warranty.

thanks for your response
is there a chance that recalibrating the screen or a factory reset might work?
if so, how do i calibrate my nexus?

You can't calibrate this type of screen screen ,BUT you could do a FULL restore [mass storage ,phone ..]

how could wiping everything from the SD card help with a screen issue?

A factory reset won't actually touch the SD card (aka internal storage when talking about the Nexus S), unless you tell it to. Honestly, since this sounds like a hardware defect with the touch sensor itself, it's very unlikely that a factory reset will help; nonetheless, it's worth a try, since either exchanging or sending your phone in for repair will both leave you with a factory fresh phone anyway.

If you're still within your return window, just go and exchange it. Otherwise, you'll have to call up Samsung support and RMA it. If you have to RMA it, don't send your battery or back cover in unless they specifically say so (they'll probably lose them). When I RMA'd one of my Nexus S phones, it took about 3 weeks to get it back. They did fix my problem (faulty USB port), but they forgot to return my back plate.

unfortunately I'm not within the exchange period, I'll probably have to send it for repairs and pay for it myself.
thanks for the tips.

my phones been alright for almost a day now but I predict this is not gonna last much longer.
ghost touch still occurs.

Call Samsung up quickly. Technically, since the Nexus S was released exactly a year ago, today, you should still be within the standard 1-year warranty period (unless this was a refurbished model, in which case your warranty was probably only 90 days).

When I RMA's a Nexus S with Samsung, all they needed was the IMIE number. Didn't even ask for a copy of my receipt or anything.
