CheckROM Revolution v4.0

Update: Might be obvious news, but the new CheckRom RevoHD (assuming it's v5.0) will be based on KL1! Beta testing soon!
 
Love this rom! as well as kitchen :D and jkdeluxe... great settings, wonder why didnt i used it earlier...
together with ICS 1.6 theme i am amazed how it looks and how fast it is!
100% worth trying! :)
 
After reading for about 6 weeks on rooting, I finally rooted my phone with Siyah 2.5.1 and CheckROM RevoHD v4. Two issues I ran into.

1. When I applied the ROM, it reset my kernel back to stock WXKK5 2.3.6. I had to reflash Siyah
2. I installed the ICS 1.6 theme, and on reboot, I couldn't unlock my phone because the unlock screen was missing the bottom row of numbers along with the OK button. Couldn't unlock my phone!! I had to reflash back to stock firmware and start all over. This time I installed the ICS theme before reflashing Siyah.

Everything working good now!! Love this root stuff!!!!

That's the correct order to flash in. The ROM, which contains its own kernel, will overwrite Siyah if you flash it first.

So, the order is... ROM, kernel, mod's and buy ironass a drink! :D
 
Just as an update: Beta testing for V5 started yesterday (Christmas Day, of all days!) :D

Just got checkrom and the darknight kernel. First time on a custom rom. This is going to be fun.

Edit: Shouldn't CWM say 5.0 not 3.0?
 
How do you undo a change made from the kitchen app. I downloaded the ics theme which worked then I got the blue circle battery mod but now I have 2 battery icons side by side on the notification bar.

edit: Nvm fixed it through jkay settings.
 
Hi. Pretty new to all this and recently installed CheckROM+ Siyah kernel and thought I'd add this here rather than start a new thread.
I looked through the kitchen app and noticed a section for different Modem baseband I believe. Are there any advantages to running any particular one or are they specific to your phone and country, or can I try any of them?

You can try anyone of them. Test out which one gives you the best signal. I found KL1 was the best for me.

I've tried a lot of the modems in the kitchen app and KL1 works best for me.

I also just upgraded to 2.6.2 and it appears snappier. Not sure if it is just me or it really is. Hopefully 2.6.2 fixes my various application issues which were getting many force close notices. Will leave overnight and see what happens.
 
Alright looks like we might be getting a version 4.5 of CRR based on XL1. Beta testing of whatever GC calls it starts today!

Can you post a link if you happen to see it. I checked out there web site and can't find any reference to a newer version...
 
Beta testing soon, so won't be around for several days. Apparently ics still quite unstable and some way off

I can tell you when it's out officially for sure! Not allowed to give links to betas I'm afraid =/

Update: Testing of V5 beta 2 starts today! It's KL1 and uses JKay 13.4.1
 
Hi

I have installed a custom theme from the Kitchen app on checkRom and am convinced its slowing phone down.
I recently rooted (1st time), then installed checkRom, then XXKPA aswell as trying freezing, etc. Not sure if I have gone about right way but phone lafs a bit and has longest boot up animation ever!!

I have deleted said rom from files and factory reset, etc to no avail.

Any ideas??

haven't had a good flash in ages myself (ooer missus etc). ;)

what's in XILA2? looks like the latest stock 2.3.6? did a google but am none the wiser.
