Help Car Dock/Car Mode?

I can't express how disappointed I am in the car dock vzw is selling. It doesn't even trigger a car mode! I am hoping a good 3rd party dock comes soon. Anyone know of one?

I am trying to work around this with tasker. I can have task switch to car mode when I connect to BT but it doesn't seem to trigger my car dock app :(

Any ideas?
 
Anyone know if the GSM mount would work? That one puts the phone automatically into car mode because it has the contacts to activate it.
 
I am activating with Tasker, it doesn't seem to do anything. It puts the steering wheel in the notification bar. What I need it to do is bring my car dock app to the front when I hit the Home key.

What is the car dock app?
 
What does it mean when the steering wheel appears in the task bar? Are you guys saying GNex comes with no app for car mode and Google Nav is the GNex car mode?
 
Side load the CarHome.apk. there's a thread on xda forums about it.

I use an NFC tag to switch on bluetooth then use my car connecting to Bluetooth to trigger the Car Home app. This also triggers my custom car mode in Tasker.

The GSM pins and LTE pins are not in the same location. There is a pic here somewhere showing how one set of pins is more toward the bottom of one phone than the other.
