Root please help extremely frustrated with nook

I recently purchased a nook color with cm7 on SD card. It will not let me download Facebook, Pandora,kindle,dolphin browser, July wont work ect. Just to name a few. Don't know what to do. Feel like I got ripped off. When I pull it up in the market it says "app not available for your device" what can I do? Any help would be appreciated. Stock nook is running 1.4

What version of CM7? CM7.1 fixed (improved) this issue. Settings.... about... Is it 7.0 or 7.1?

Don't forget you have the Amazon Appstore to download apps as well. (get started, right side) Amazon.com: Appstore for Android

This is one big reason I'm not a fan of purchased sdcard. If you can't create it in the first place using the best sdcard, how are you going to upgrade it later, buy another one? (btw, a kitten dies every time someone buys one of these overpriced cards)
 
You know, not everyone has the technical expertise to create a CM card themselves. I am one of those people. From what I've read, it is a fairly involved process taking many steps. I bought the n2a card because I was more than willing to pay for a card that had been put together and vetted by folks with the know-how. I have two cats and neither of them suffered at all when I bought the card.

I got Amazon app store to download but wont let me get any apps says problem purchasing and redirects so I log in and get same results. Now what?
 
That appears to be a nightly build from July 30, not the 7.1 stable build that has the fix. You'd have to have a build from at least October.

I've never been a fan of sdcard installs and this is one reason... You can either upgrade to 7.1 stable (and I don't know how to do that) or edit your build.prop file: http://androidforums.com/nookcolor-all-things-root/399848-limited-market-cm7-usd.html#post3241000

To upgrade, it might be as easy and copying your file to your sdcard, booting into recovery and flashing it or installing from Rom Manager, but I don't know sdcard installs.

I had issues with downloading apps after I got my first couple. Was told to go into
Settings, Applications, App Manager. Select All at the top.

On the following apps you clear the cache and the data - Market, Downloads, Download
Manager, Google Framework Services.

Once cleared, reboot. Then try it again.

It worked on mine. Hopefully yours will as well ...
 
The other thing I'd suggest is to contact the source where your card came from. From what I hear N2A has very good customer support. I got mine through rootmynookcolor.com, and likewise have been very pleased with the support I've been given.

I know nothing at all about any others that may be out there.

Whoever put your card together is likely rather familiar with the issues you've been having, and may well have an easy fix.
 
Beesathome apparently purchased a used NC with the card so I doubt any warranty would still be in effect, esp with a July 30 nightly build... that was 5 months ago.
 
Well, you can always get the lcd density app, set it to 160, reboot, force close the market, clear the data(not the cache) and restart the market. You will be able to see the movie tab under the book tab, and soon, you can download all the apps you couldn't.
 
I do have to say that I also feel buying the card premade is kinda wasteful.

Please do not take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to insult or knock anyone's intelligence. It was stated above that making a cm card yourself is a rather large undertaking, with many steps. I don't feel that this is true, regardless of ones technological know-how.

If one can just follow the steps, the process is very straight forward, and fairly easy. Its not time consuming at all. It also saves a bit of money. A 1gb microsd is all that's is needed, which is very cheap, and about 10 minutes of your time.

I don't have anything against people who buy these cards done for them, just saying there is really no reason to buy them, the process is far easier than a lot of people believe.
 
I installed CM7.1 stable to a 32 gb sdcard using our guide and it took me an hour to get it to boot into CM7. Maybe I need to write a newbie guide, but I find the whole thing flaky and totally unreliable.

When I copied both CM7 AND gApps to justgreen's bootable card, I could not get it to boot into CM7 PERIOD, and changing the boot menu didn't work... it just hung.

Copying just CM7 initially, booting into CM7 and later copying gApps DID work, but was still more work than I would expect a newbie to do.

I still maintain that flashing CM7 to EMMC (replacing your stock rom) is the easiest and best way to install CM7. Second easiest is to root stock rom (if you really need that functionality and I would think most don't) and using a custom launcher like ADW (or Zeam or whatever tickles your fancy).

Installing to the emmc as you and I discussed via pm was the route that I ultimately went with. It certainly is easier, I had gotten it done in roughly 5-10 minutes ( the time it took from the moment I booted into recovery, wiped everything, and booted cm7 for the first time from the internal memory) . I have no regrets. If I have to send it back for warranty purposes, its simple enough to return the NC to stock.

I don't know why some are having a hard time installing/running from the SD card though. I managed it on a 8gb class 4 sandisk in about 20 minutes with our guide. I do prefer running cyanogen internally rather than SD though, so much less hassle, and though some haven't noticed a reliability or speed difference between the two, I definitely did.

Many of us here, veterans of Modding and noobs alike, do owe you some gratitude colchiro. Your guides, help and knowledge of the NC are great help at making the process of Modding the NC as painless as possible. Kudos to you bud.
