[International / GSM] Deviced Recognized when on, but not when in Fastboot mode?

I have everything installed ( including Samsung Drivers) and when my phone is plugged into my computer while on.. it is recognizing the phone.

When I turn it off and boot into fastboot mode... it is unable to see my device.

Using Windows 7. USB debugging enabled.

I can turn the device back on and then my computer will recognize it again.

Ideas?!!?!?

Yes, I'm assuming you have the samsugn 1.4.x drivers installed (installed via EXE file). Correct?

If so, then go in and remove them from the uninstall program option. Next, find the Samsung 1.7 drivers (link is in main root sticky, if I have time, I'll go back and update with link). Unzip and save them somewhere, it is not an installable package. Remember where you put them.

Plug phone in (powered off). Fastboot. You'll get the standard "unknown hardware" type prompts (as you are familiar with). Now go into device manager, find the unrecognized device, go to driver tab, update driver and point it to the directory where you stored the new drivers.

It will install and now recognize your phone and you can go from there.

This is exactly the advice I needed. Thanks so much :)

I managed to fix it while awaiting a response. I had to install PDAnet drivers as well! Thanks!

Unlocked and Rooted!

Thank you so much, this problem was driving me crazy.
