How many GNs have you gone through?

Please correct me if I'm wrong...and I really hope I am...but I was under the impression that VZW will not be addressing the actual reception issue per say, just the signal meter.

I too find the reception unacceptable and may return my device because of it. This breaks my heart because I LOVE this phone. But I'm in my office in downtown Clearwater forced on 3G because of poor reception. If it's true that VZW refuses to believe the issue is real, what choice do I have? I won't play the constant replacement game. I'll try to go back to my crappy Tbolt and wait for the next ICS device. I know it won't be a Nexus, but a lot of good that's doing right now anyway if they don't even acknowledge there's an issue.

BTW...what is the drop dead date for an outright return for a launch day GNex purchase? I'm sick that I even need to ask. I'm going to hold out hope for improvement up to the last minute. :(

Out of curiosity, you mentioned that you noticed a lot of people have done this but how did you determine someone's history of returning their previous phones?:confused:

the smartphone (forum) world isn't that big. if you've been around here long enough, other android forums, or the old school crackberry days you'll see the same members migrate from one forum/subforum to the next as they upgrade or move to different platforms. sometimes their problems follow them and other times people will straight out say they've had issues with previous phones.

obviously part of my comment was tongue in cheek, but i do think many people don't understand some of the issues or limitations of their device.

not meant as an attack on anyone, just an observation.

IIRC about 8 months for the gingerbread update. I wouldn't read too much into there were a few small updates right after release (maybe it was 1, can't remember that far back).
 
I exchanged mine today. I had hoped my abysmal signal was due to a defecfive radio, but I think this replacement is even worse :(. The signal reads (in dBm) as the same or stronger with this one, but I will now randomly lose 4G even when it shows i have a decent 4G signal. And my speedtest scores are lower. I guess I'll be making another exchange and hops third times the charm. I'd even take my old one back one back at this point.

This is the first time I've ever had to exchange a device even once, so I'm not one of those guys.
 
Still using the same device from release day. No issues with dropped calls and having solid battery life. All around I'm very pleased with the phone.
 
Still going strong since release day. Only complaint is the slight purple hue when screen is not atfull brightness.Anyone else with similar issue ? Would that constitute an exchange?
 
I got my 2nd device yesterday because of battery issues. Now my 2nd one, my call clarity is horrible. With my old one the voices on the other end were so clear. And this one the voices are more garbled. Oh and with the new one the volume is way lower than my previous one. So I installed volume+ but that doesn't really help. I can't win with this phone!

Exchange it for another one, you don't want to get stuck with a phone you're not happy with for 2 years.
 
On my 2nd phone the first whenever vibrated had a crackling sound emitting from the speaker. I think the internal speaker was loose. After having to set back up my phone I am going to try and get everything aspect of this phone on the cloud!
 
on #2...the first had terrible vertical banding at all brightness levels (obviously it was much worse when dim). Once the store saw the screen there was no hesitation to replace it. #2 is solid.

Tech support and the manager inside the corp store both said I could exchange it as many times as it takes to get it right. I'm going back for my third, too. I love this phone, but these little issues are vexing.

Ok thanks. I am going to live with it through the weekend and perhaps Monday will venture back to Verizon. But this really is becoming a pain and I've never had this much bad luck with a phone purchase before. :cool:
 
I am on #2....

The first one had:

1) Defective Front camera...

2) Lots of screen banding on light backgrounds on low brightness...

3) Flaky behavior with bluetooth in my F150 ( Ford Sync )..

4) Short battery life even with extended battery.

So far the replacement seem to correct these issues. Signal strength is still a little iffy...

So you are going to keep wasting your time exchanging and getting a device with similar signal. Clearly some people should stick to iphones because they do not understand how phones and signal work...:rolleyes:

I am on #2.

#1 may have had problems with phone calls dropping after a period of time. 4 separate callers informed me that my voice began sounding "robotic" about 15 minutes into a call followed by not being able to hear me at all. If I hung up and called back, I sounded fine again.

#2 has been equal or better on all fronts to the last one. I have only made 1 long call, but the caller did not indicate any problems so I'm hopeful this will be my last.
 
Im on #2, going on #3.

1st one: screen was Defective On Arrival. (EVERYTHING ELSE was flawless)
2nd: Bad primary camera, along with reboots, and browser kills itself all day long.

Going into Verizon on the 26th to pick up #3.

3rd times a charm, RIGHT??!!
