Engadet has just announced the winners, the readers chose Droid for smart phone and gadget of the year. The editors chose the Droid for gagdet of the year however the iPhone for smart phone of the year. The engadet editors obsession with the iPhone continues.
That's what I mean, the editors are in love with the iPhone. If you want an example read engadget's Droid review. I almost didn't buy my Droid because of it but decided to take the plunge anyway and I'm glad I did. Just imagine how many other people read that review and didn't take the plunge.Heh I like how they tossed the 3GS a bone in editors picks
i dont get why you guys bash so much on the 3gs. it IS a great device, you may not like it but im pretty sure MANY (and yes, the sales prove it) others like it.
nonetheless, it was great seeing droid as gadget of the year on BOTH readers and editors choice! woo hoo!
Not trying to sound like a hater, but how can the editors pick the 3GS as the Smartphone of the Year, but the Droid as the Gadget of the Year? They're both smartphones, they think one is more deserving of that title, but the other is a better overall gadget? Really sounds off. But I guess they'll justify it b/c of Google Maps. Still, doesn't make sense.
Nilay Patel said:We thought the Droid was an important gadget and marked a big shift in the industry for both Google and Motorola, but when it came to picking a pure smartphone, the iPhone was our choice. The Droid is great, but it's still not quite as polished as the iPhone, and the app and accessory ecosystem doesn't compare.

That's why they let the people choose as well. They know that they can be seen as bias.I think Droid should've won both phone and gadget of the year.
Yeah, not sure what happened. I mean the Apple crowd was strong, I was surprised to see that POS iPad won Most Anticipated.I voted everything DROID that I could see - but these polls were reader polls, so that means those of us voting (and I voted on every category they had) made a difference.
TBH I didn't expect DROID to get gadget - navigation was a hands down when I voted, it had more than the sum total of all other devices listed lol....
