You're thinking in Windows terms. You're not using a PC or Windows. You're using a phone running Android which is based on Linux and inherently virus-free. Antivirus is a waste of time and resources except to scan files that may be transferred from the phone to a vulnerable Windows machine.That is pretty much (un)common-sense, something that anyone who has a PC of any type should know...
So-called "antivirus" applications won't protect you from anything common sense won't.
Anti-theft stuff is fine.
Antivirus is useless, though.
If you miss something (i.e., you make the conscious choose to install a malicious application on your phone--it doesn't just magically appear on your phone without your consent), antivirus won't be able to stop you from installing the trojan.
