Simple Boot Animation (Scrimping Battery Eh?)

Always looking for a way to stay covert and save on the battery.

I found this simple boot animation. Rename the file in your system/media from bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.bak.
Copy the downloaded fie into the same place and rename it bootanimation.zip.
Reboot.

Simple little stripe across the middle of the screen with Galaxy Nexus and a tumbling X logo.

Also if you just rename the boot animation and dont replace it, your boot animation will simply be the word "android." Thats as covert and simple as it gets.

The darkened MMS link in my sig has been updated, he darkened the empty place holders and changed the launching icon to black & blue too. Niiiice.

Does this only work if you are rooted? I tried (running stock) and it says "could not rename." I despise that energy-wasting boot animation.

I think so. I use root explorer. A great app.

I can see the boot animation file (using File Expert), but when I change the name it responds "could not rename."
