what song is playing?

Video is unavailable. I am running DM 1.0 though with wallpapers working great.

Hmmm I'm not sure why it wouldn't be playing, jbarrett had no problem, try the direct link YouTube - DroidMod 1.0.

i was using shootme but please, remember to shut the service down when ur done with it lol.

i turned it on, took a few shots. like 10 hours later i was running with my phone and all i heard was it snapping screenshots lol

So, the only way to get this rom is to use their Updater? They don't provide a Nandroid package?

The link is up on their website, but I'll repost it here:

http://downloads.droidmod.org/finalreleases/droidmod-164-1.0.rom.tgz

It is NOT a nandroid, it is a .tgz, which is FAR superior.

You install in a similar fashion, except in recovery, instead of backup/restore, you choose install, choose ROM from sdcard...

It allows for a complete customization of your install options.

So I don't have to use the updater. I can just download the tgz, go into recovery and click install? I've done Bugless Beast/Bugless Beauty a bunch of times. But wanted to give the Sholes/DroidMod ROM a go. Looks pretty good. And I'm assuming, that even if I use the Updater, I can revert using the nandroid backup I made correct?

Yes. If you're rooted and already have SPRecovery installed (you do), then all the updater does is act as a download client for the ROM I just linked.

It's really for those who don't understand how to do things manually.

EDIT: make sure your SPRecovery is at least 99.2b, otherwise, it does not support the .tgz method. The updater app will install 99.3 for you though.

Do I need to rename it at all. Usually I have to rename them to update.zip. Do I just put the droidmod-164-1.0.rom.tgz into the root of my card and let'r rip?

Always good advice Fab!

The only thing that I would add is that the upside to keeping DroidMod app is

a) DroidMod will issue updates to the application which will also keep your SPRecovery up to date

b) as new versions of DroidMod come you can flash their new ROMS via Updater without ever having to connect your USB to your computer (caveat being you have good 3g or wifi coverage)

so if im running smoked glass 4.5 and wanted to try this one out. i would just download the updater? ive made a nandroid backup of my SG and everything. then just put .tgz file on my sd card and all that. and i can go back and forth between the 2 or will this mess up the phone?

If you download the DroidMod Updater now it will automatically put the tgz file in for you. All you have to do is open the updater, choose rom in rom menu and everything else will be done for you. Dont worry about anything else you have a nandroid backup to go back to...

It most likely will not work from smoked glass 4.5 because the updater will see your model as Droid Adamz enhanced or something like that where its looking for just droid. you will have to install the ROM via the tgz method then install the updater for future use.

doss

The updater doesn't care what you're currently running. All it does it downloads a ROM, and then reboots you into the install, as if you'd rebooted into recovery mode and selected install from SDcard.

so i could download the updater and install to that ROM and go back and forth between that and smoked glass nandroid if i wanted?
