Root custom roms

Been looking at different roms, and as I'm new to all this flashing, just wondering as I own a DHD which custom roms am I allowed to use, which other phone roms am I able to use,

THANKS

Do not use any ROM from another phone!!! It is a cardinal sin and you get sent straight to phone hell!

Look here for ROMS:

Desire HD Android Development - xda-developers

Use any you find there. In there you may find it mentioned that the ROM has been ported for use on the Desire HD from another phones base. That is the only type of ROM from another phone that is okay. Don't use any you find in other model development forums though.

Thanks for the advice, I will keep an eye on the xda forum to see what the latest developments are.

Went I first flashed I went over to ARHD 6.3.1, and was impressed.

Am now running leedroid v4.0 with recommended radio etc.

I'm looking for more of less a sense Rom that is very quick and has very good battery life.

I use my phone a lot for the net and sms, so i know that I will be draining the battery a lot quicker than normal, I have just been looking into the mikrunny v1.01

Sense ROM's aren't really for me, but I don't think you can go far wrong with ARHD.

The beauty of being rooted is that you can keep changing until you find what's best for you... certainly helps me bear the 2 year contract that I have!!

Yeah I enjoyed the experience of ARHD, and was impressed, only just flashed over to leedroid.

I was a little worried about rooting at first as I've just entered a 2 year contract so i guess it will pass the time.

Thanks

Makes the 2 year contract easier to swallow... like having a new toy each time you flash a ROM!

I'd stick with ARHD for stability, speed and battery life its unrivalled and while LeeDrOiD is great (I loved my time with it) Lee just doesn't devote the time to the DHD anymore over the Sensation and EVO 3D. mike1986 offers the best multiple device support over most devs. That and I've found ARHD to be better for battery and speed over LeeDrOiD. Not only that but Lees 4.0.0 build offers no support for his existing add-ons for 3.3.3. ARHD has had all the add-ons updated for Sense 3.
