Just letting everyone know that the cradle for the verizon nexus that holds it in portrait mode and has connections to hdmi is available from verizon for $60 if you go through the my verizon app, accessories, cradles. It does not use the 3 pin connection (uses micro usb) but I read that extended battery will fit in it fine.

I didnt see it on the regular site for some reason.

edit: hahahah, you need to be logged in or set your zip code to see it!

Sweet. But from what I've read the phone automatically is locked into landscape mode when HDMI mirroring. So I don't know why they would have made this dock hold the phone in portrait.

Now if they'd just release an actual car dock for the CDMA version - we'd be set.

I have the Samsung car dock for Nexus, and it fits just fine (even with the extended battery). The flexible rubber dock takes some getting used to, but it has served me well on several long trips :)

Wait-- what?? Huh? You have the SAMSUNG car dock, with the 3 pin connector for charging and audio and you are using it with a VERIZON Galaxy Nexus with extended battery and it CHARGES the phone while driving?? If so, does it invoke any type of car mode?

i ordered it and it went through but i received an email a few hours later that it was on backorder and they would ship it when it came in - no eta though

What he said. I underlined the word "dock" because the one that Verizon sells would more appropriately be called a (overpriced) holder.

If you have the one with the three-pin connectors and it's working on the GN-LTE then you'd make a lot of us very happy.

Wonder why it doesn't use the three-pin connector.

The three pin connector doesn't transmit data, it's for charging. So for HDMI, it would have to use the three pin connector AND a USB connector, which would be awkward to fit into a dock (you would have to rest the phone sideways in the dock, plus connecting another cable).

Would also like to hear the answer to this question.

I can vouche for Chief, picked up the Gnex-LTE from verizon 4 weeks ago I was also offered a car dock made by Samsung. Looked at it briefly but didn't have interest in purchasing it since I was looking for a home dock. Was told by the sales rep it would work with the extended battery. Not sure about the 3 pins but maybe I'll stop by afterwork and check it out again.

Chief never said anything about 3 pin connector. pretty sure he is just talking about the regular car dock without the pins that vz is selling. but this thread is about the portrait desk dock anyways so...
