Hey guys, people keep talking about the weird back and possibly a bigger battery for the Incredible. Well what if that is what makes this phone incredible...an awesome battery life? I'm a current blackberry user and am actually really worried about going to Android from Blackberry when it comes to battery life. I'm a FedEx courier, so I don't have access to a car charger all day and need my phone battery to last. Just a thought.

I think the Incredible would really be Incredible if the weird back concealed a mechanical arm that cracks open a beer for me when I touch the home button three times...and not just cans, but bottles and these cool corks that come on those larger bottles from many microbreweries...not THAT would be incredible :D

If Verizon is doing that (Releasing the Incredible much later than the N1), then they are either stupid, don't care which phone sells because it doesn't matter to them as long as people stay with them, or are expecting people to be reluctant to go with the N1 because of lack of support, no family plan use, or no NE2 and are willing to wait a few more months.

I don't think it matters much if the N1 comes out before the Incredible. Does Verizon really care if people buy an N1? As far as I know, they don't give you a price break on your monthly charges if you don't buy a subsidized phone so they are actually making more money if you buy an unlocked phone from Google since they aren't having to recoup the cost of a phone. They only thing they don't get out of it is the long-term contract, which doesn't really matter much because with a CDMA network you don't have a lot of options on where you can go with that phone.

That's a GREAT point! +1

Okay... Just a thought. Sorta off topic, but...

Looking at the Devour, considering Verizon wants their phones to look similiar, the Legend and the Devour would totally go hand in hand.

I see your point, but I wouldn't hold on too tightly to that theory. We've already seen pictures and video of the Incredible and the Incredible has a Verizon Wireless splash screen in the video. I wouldn't bank too much on the Legend coming to Verizon. However, it could. The Legend IS known as the Hero 2 and we all know that the Eris is a variant of the Hero. So...could the Legend come to Verizon in some form? Sure. However, being that we've already seen leaked pictures, video and eye witnesses that have seen the Incredible or have solid sources that state that it is coming to Verizon soon, I wouldn't say that the Legend coming to Verizon soon is very likely. Maybe further down the road to replace the Eris, but not this soon.

Oh yeah. I know all that and am more excited about the Incredible. It was just an observation I just had. Perhaps the final Incredible will have a hot metallic facade to it in the manner that they changed Bravo to Desire. That might make it sweeter.

That would DEFINITELY make it sweeter! If the Incredible had an all aluminum body, it would be amazing. At this point the Incredible could honestly end up looking like anything. Sure, we've seen pictures and video and it may end up that way, but anything is possible until it's been released. We know that for sure.

.

then just maybe the Incredible is like the Supersonic but with wifi.

The more I think about the Incredible, the more I wonder about this possibility. I don't think it's likely if, indeed the Supersonic does in fact have the 4.3" screen, considering that the video and photos appear to show that the Incredible has a 3.7" screen (Thanks to Nash for the photoshop estimating btw). What I have noticed about the two leaks is that they both have very similar designs: rounded-edges, touch-sensitive buttons, iphone-similar styling. This really shouldn't be that big of a supprise though, VZW and Sprint like nudging manufacturers into modifying their designs to their liking. At least they did with the Hero. So, I think that it's plausible (maybe likely...maybe) that the Incredible and Supersonic could be relatives in design. Not necessary brothers, but maybe cousins, or first cousins once-removed from their ex-mother-in-law's step-sister.;)

The bigger question, at least for myself, is what about the Supersonic? ATT looks like it will probably get the Desire. I refuse to go to 'Ma Bell (long story, don't ask). I don't really consider the Legend, although very good looking for what it is, on par with what the Incredible should be. And I, like some out there, am a little skeptical about support for the N1.

So that leaves the Supersonic. Rumored to be coming out by summer.

Whatever may or may not be, we have seen some leaked pictures and it appears as though this phone will be on shelves sometime this year. What I'm long-windily (sorry) trying to say is: would the Supersonic change anyone's mind should it come out before the Incredible? Either way, I really, really hope that Verizon will have some good news for us by CTIA.

Well Frankly I'm a little irritated...and relieved... and excited... and now frustrated.. I found this site.

Irritated because I don't even look at phones till my contract comes up. I've had a curve for 2 years now. Like many, I started looking into them and decided on a Droid.

Relieved because on a whim I though I might look into whats coming out. While not quite excited about a driod I was going to be satisfied until... I ran into a leaked video..

Excited? Frankly I don't get excited too much anymore.. but.. this phone.. Well its been awhile..:p

Now.. Frustrated... like many of you... because it isn't in OUR hands yet!! And the unknown...is well... excruciating!

I'm just thankful I found this thread. It makes the wait at least bearable. And so far is keeping me in line. To hear any scraps of info keeps you waiting at least one more day!

I have been saved a number of times now because of this thread. I thought ok.. I'll buy a Droid. But then I heard how possibly close the release may be so I waited... Then I thought umm.. someone local on cragslist needs some money and is selling his droid for $100 bucks.. Umm.. I'll buy it and then ebay it later... but then I see the $99 BB deal on this thread and realize...umm they wont be worth squat soon.. saved again! :o

Thanks for all the tips and info! Keep em coming! And hopefully on day soon the wait will be over. :D

I respectfully am not sure I agree with a couple of your points.

Just to throw a couple of thoughts around for discussion

First, we don't know what deal Verizon has worked up with Google that may or may not delay the Incredible. They certainly haven't said much at this point about anything.

Secondly, when you refer to CDMA and lack of options, I am assuming that you mean outside of the USA, and in that case, I agree, but in the states, CDMA has the best coverage and Verizon has the best network, so I'm confused how that would have a negative effect?

:)

I don't know if I agree with that. I think they want you locked in to a contract. And I think they have it worked out so they do make more money when you buy a phone from them. And I've been using unsubsidized phones for years now, my monthly charges are no different than anyone elses.

If sprint had coverage, yes. To their credit, their website will actually talk you out of their service if they have no coverage in your area. I think it actually laughed when I put my zipcode in. :)

Of course we are just going on rumors that the Supersonic has a 4.3" screen and is 4G cabable. There were rumors Verizon's HTC phone was going to be 4.3" and from the Incredible pics it doesn't look 4.3". The Supersonic could just be Sprint's version of the Incredible/Desire.

An all aluminum body would be awesome. I do like the Hero2's aesthetic design, but if you've noticed, the Devour is honestly the first VZW phone ive seen that hasnt been black aluminum. Even the Eris switched from the Hero's aluminum colored body to the black aluminum. Just a subtle oddity.

The incredible hopefully goes through some design changes before launch. Im not sure if its too drastic a change, but I could really do without the touch sensitive buttons. Ive heard negative comments about the N1 and Eris touch buttons. Im ready to embrace an all touch device but if it had two hard buttons thatd be fine by me.

That was my point. You shelled out all the cash to buy your phone - the carrier paid nothing for the phone. But you don't pay less for your montly plan then anyone else, therefore the part of your montly payment that was built into your plan cost to cover the subsidized phone no long is needed. It goes straight to their bottom line.

I ran across this article this morning, it kind of touches on this point:
Editorial: the American phone subsidy model is a RAZR way of thinking in an iPhone world -- Engadget

I just think that the downside for Verizon financially with having the N1 released is that people can end their service at any time and they don't have them locked into a 2-year deal. But, they will be making more profit each month from the N1 user who buys an unsubsidized phone while they are there.

Although none of us knows any details of the Nexus One deal with Verizon, I still would find it hard to believe that Verizon doesn't have some skin in the game. I can't really imagine Google going around to the carriers, begging them to allow the Nexus on their network. It seems like more of a joint partnership between google and the selected carriers because in reality, google wins by having their phone on as many networks as possible, and verizon (in this case) wins by having a great phone on their network.

I think we need to keep in mind just how small the number of people who are willing to spend $530 on a phone is. Most people want to walk into a store, pick out a cool phone in their price range and go home. The really interesting thing about the new google model is that it only works if a network discounts non-subsidized phone plans like T-Mobile does. With Verizon, there is absolutely zero benefit to me to buy the phone unsubsidized...other than the ability to not sign a contract. Is that worth an extra $200-$300 up front? Sure, for some people. Anyways, where I was going with this is that I don't think Verizon is just acting as a dumbpipe with the nexus one, so I would be surprised to see them launch both phones within the same month.

Oh now I get it, yup I see your point. Thanks.

i know this is my first post so people will probably come out and call BS on me (i read these boards regularly) but I have a buddy who got an semi-concrete answer straight from a HTC rep. Incredible will be in US in April on VZ. They also noted it was scheduled for a march release, but just recently got pushed back (didn't say why). So take it with a grain of salt. I personally am losing my mind waiting.....

If this were correct, here's a thought...

What if the release date got delayed because the Incredible will be the world's first Skipe video phone!

THAT'S INCREDIBLE!!
