Anyone happy with the 2.3.5 update?

Hi All,

I've read a lot of threads lately from people who are now having problems with their phones since updating to the recently released 2.3.5 OTA update - decreased memory, more bugs, more laggy etc. So, I have put off performing the update. I was just wondering if anyone here has updated to 2.3.5 and is actually happier with it?

Thanks,

Ben.

I don't know what they're grumbling about. It works fine on my phone. I'm enjoying the extra memory and have had no performance issues.

To be more precise about the memory, before upgrading I had only 25MB free and Swype installed on the SD card (very annoying, but hey, I needed the memory!).

Now Swype is on the phone and I have 49MB free and a lot less bloatware from the Asia 2.3.3 ROM I was running, plus the extra memory that comes with 2.3.5.

The screen lock is different. The action before was swipe down. Now it's swipe up. I don't understand why this is a big deal for some people.

Edit: spelin'

Hi Hexx,

I'm with the rest of the guys. I updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 and immediately gained 20MB of internal storage, which was a blessing. I'm not aware of any degradation in performance since updating.

I have a Wildfire S Model A510e running 2.3.3 software number 1.33.401.2.

I click on check for software updates in settings and it tells me my phone is up to date.

The phone is a carphone warehouse unbranded and unlocked phone.

Anyone know why I cant upgrade Android?

Cheers.

Hi,
Before updating to 2.3.5 do i need to take a back-up of my phone or does it just overwrite the 2.3.3 version and leave other stuff as it is?

Thanks

I must now retract my statement. I've since installed Cyanogenmod 7.2 and can't figure out why anyone with a rooted Wildfire S would endure HTC's stock ROMs, either 2.3.3 or 2.3.5.

Hi I have just got my hardware and software update for my HTC Wild Fire S
and im one happy bunny so far the extra memory is great as I was forever having to delete apps because of space and I like the new lock and also the message box.

Did you take a back-up of your phone before upgrading?

I am generally happy with update but when my alarm rings in the morning the snooze and dismiss buttons dont work when screen is locked, but if you unlock it it automatically turns the alarm off. any suggestions? x

I'm happy with the update, but only thing bothering me is a problem with the android market.. I cannot download any app, always gettin a error 492 reply.. I don't know if this is related to the update..

I did'nt do a back up of my phone before the update and so far it's running brill. why would I need to back up when I can redownload my apps from market I'm new to the android phone

The Andriod market also have had an update for your phone did you get the new one, hope that sorts it out for you

So it seems like a back up of the phone is not necessary before upgrade.
But why is it that few users are having problems after upgrade? Is there any procedure to be done before upgrading the phone?

For users having market and other problems after updating........

If you are unrooted I recommend a factory reset

If rooted and have a recovery installed, boot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache

Hope this helps.

A little extra memory, didin't like the new ring pull sceenlock, as was having issues with lower touchscreen (which was resolved by soemone telling me to power off and take battery out & reboot - worked, solved screen issues).

BUT now the ring pull which on pulling up used to answer calls, doesn';t now, I have to make a secondary touch at green answer button, anyone know how to resolve?

Why does Android do such weird and differing small things?!?!?! IT JUST SHOULDN'T!!

After the update the phone needs a factory reset to clear out and rebuild its dalvik cache.
