Got Google Voice up and running - how do I access my old voicemails?

I'm enjoying the Google Voice app so far and am feeling hopeful that I can avoid trying out the Verizon Visual Voicemail at $3/month. I am hoping for some clarification for those of you using Google Voice. Three important questions:

1)I have saved a bunch of old voicemail messages which means that it only takes 8 or 9 new voicemails to fill my Verizon mailbox and make it impossible for anyone to leave a new message. Do the messages left for me now on Google Voice count against this Verizon quota and if so, do they get deleted from my Verizon account if I delete on Google Voice?

2)When I dial *86 to get into my voicemail like I use to, it goes right to leaving a message for myself. How do I change my greeting when I'm on vacation or out of the office?

3)Some of my voicemails are saved and I would like to be able to access them from time to time... how do I do this?

Loving my Nexus, guys. This is my first Android and I can't believe I used a crapberry this long.

PS - For anyone not ready to root yet, the Novalauncher is about the most useful upgrade I've made so far

I couldn't find where in settings, so I opened up the dialer, hit the option key and it's in there.... option for Voicemail Service, click that then click My carrier.

That'll get you back to the normal VZW voicemail.... then flip it back if you want to use GV

Thanks for the advice. For whatever reason, even when I change this setting, *86 still goes into my Google Voice account. I ended up doing a google search and found a "backdoor" number to call into my Verizon voicemail. This ended up answering all of my questions. First of all, when I change my greeting via Verizon, nothing changes when people call me as the Google Voice greeting supersedes this. I also learned that voicemails that are left for me when my Google Voice is active do not show up with Verizon, meaning they don't count against the quota.

once GV is setup, it states you have to launch it at least once.

Maybe the same for the reverse? Launch it once after changing the setting. Try again.

Maybe reboot and try again.

Is there a VZW VM number that you can call? Is that the backdoor?

GV is completely separate from Verizon. All management is done through Google voice online. Be sure t* go there with your desktop and take a look a the settings. There is some cool stuff you can do with groups and different messages. Be warned their translation is for he most part useless but access is easier so its a moot point to me. Foe the most part gv is like gmail...save everything. Good luck.

But to use it for voicemail, you need to set it up on your phone. So it's not "all online" per se.
