Root Rebooted prevail, won't turn on!

AHHHHH SO I REBOOTED MY PREVAIL AND IT'S STUCK ON THE BOOST MOBILE LOGO, IT WON'T CUT ON. I TOOK THE BATTERY OUT, PUT IT BACK IN, TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IT KEEPS GETTING STUCK ON THE BOOST MOBILE LOGO. HOW DO I GET IT BACK TO THE HOME SCREEN????? HEEEEELLLPPPP PLEASE :confused:

I'm gonna be in here for a little while , I'll see if I can help you . First , tell me what all you have done to the phone . I see you are In the rooted section so I take it you are rooted . Correct ?

Second , do you have Odin ? We are probably gonna need it . Get back with me as soon as you can .

If you would like to try it yourself , I'll post the link to Odin .

I have downloaded every link from the ordin post and it will not let me open any of them. I did what it says to do and it won't let me open the file, it says not supported. Luckily i have a backup prevail that i am now using, but i still want to get my rooted phone working again. I rebooted it and it won't come on it stays at the boost mobile logo. I will not be rooting any more phones bc i have no idea what is going on with my phone.

Will the phone go in to DOWNLOAD MODE ?? Press volume down and camera button while pressing power . It should boot in to DOWNLOAD MODE . It will say "Downloading..." in yellow . If your phone is at least getting to the Boost screen , there is a very good chance that it can be fixed .
 
Make sure you extract the Odin files, you can't open it inside the Odin.zip
Here is Prevail ROOT and CWM by Hroark13.
Just Place on Desktop
Right-click-->Extract All...

Power off your Prevail.
Hold down vol. down, camera, and power buttons until you see "Downloading..."on the screen.
Plug your Prevail into you computer.
Double Click "Odin"
Place the .ops in the .ops section.
place the boot.tar in the boot section.
place the phone.tar in the phone section.
place the pda.tar in the pda section.
Click "Start"
Let it run without distractions until it boots up completely then.. enjoy? hopefully

You meant hold down volume down . Volume up will not access downloading mode .
 
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not realize I had to match up Boot, Phone, & PDA in the Ordin program. IT WORKED!!!!!!!! Thanks to all of you kind people who helped me out. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) Thanks once again!!!!

It will let you make back-ups of your current system/rom. For those what did I do wrong moments. Thus letting you return your phone to its present state.

Oh yeah you might want to concider d/l Titanium Backup in order to save your apps.

As Cheezee said , it will allow you to back-up and restore your ROM if anything were to happen such as a crash . Titanium Backup is a very useful tool also . I am running the Pro (paid) version of it and it has saved me a lot of time when it came to restoring apps . It also recommend do back-ups often using CWM . Just keep a current back-up on your phone and save the other back-ups to you PC . That way you can restore a recent version or you can take it all the back to a fresh install . :D
 
my phone was also stuck on the boost screen after i tried installing a metamorph skin or something that was designed for a motorola phone.....i cant seem to find anyplace to change the size and shape of the buttons....i guess you could call it the "dock". im new to these things....can anybody help me out at all i now have to root my phone again and dont know where to look for things to customize my phone (samsung galaxy prevail)

Thanks. So should I download CWM or Titanium backup? Is there a difference between those? As of yesterday I have Titanium backup, the free version.

One thing I ask of you ...... PLEASE READ the information in the threads completely before you even think of starting . If you have questions :confused: about an install or something , post your question in that thread and wait for a response . Response times vary ( I just wanted to warn you ) . Sometimes you can get a response in seconds , other times it make take a day or two . Just be patient and your question will get answered . Don't get in a hurry , you'll end up w/ a bricked phone :eek: . There are a lot of great people in here that are willing to help you with your questions so ask away ;) . There's a lot you can do with your Prevail so read up and enjoy !! If you decide to go w/ CTMOD or CM7 , you're really gonna be surprised and if someone helps you , hit that little thanks button on the right . :D Take care , Biker

lol ...Seems like everytime ive gotten myself in a pickel its because of not being patient ..and not educating myself as much as one should before jumping in head first:D
 
Yeah... like biker said, you definitely want to educate yourself before doing things... I'm glad I did... I was reading threads for days before I took the plunge into a world with root...:D...
And I've gotta say, as long as I read and RE-READ the threads until I felt comfortable with it. It always works out right.. (for me anyway) :)... just make sure to follow the directions step by step and you'll be helping others out with their problems in no time... ;)
 
I rooted my phone and started deleting bloatware. my phone started acting slow so I tried restarting it. now it wont boot up completely. itll get to the Samsung words and just sit there and glow forever, please HELPP!!!:mad::(:confused:

Don't sweat it. As long as it's at least booting to the Samsung screen then all is not lost!!! You have Odin in case it's needed. Odin has helped save my Prevail on quite a few occasions when I was learning.

Do a battery pull and then try to boot it up into its CWM recovery. If you can get into recovery then things should be easy. If you are able to get into CWM do a factory reset, then wipe cache, then go to advanced and wipe the Dalvik cache. After all that has been done, select reboot and hopefully the phone will boot up.

If that does not work, you will probably need to use Odin, start from scratch and redo everything.

Good luck. I'll be on and off here for about an hour or so and will be checking this thread every 10 or 15 minutes until I go to sleep. If you have any questions, post what's going on. If I'm still awake, I'll be more than happy to help.


EDIT: I hope you've got it fixed. I've been checking this post for several hours with no reply. Time for me to crash.
