Help Change to yakju

google it and go read,,, its said one gets updates right from google and the other from samsung,,,

im not to worried about it,, but its out there if you want to read

In all the updates for the i9250 phones, the yakju ones have been updated first and the yakju (as well as mysid for Verizon) come directly from AOSP builds.

All other versions contain region and/or carrier specific data added into the build, thus the updates have come at a later timeframe than the phones running straight up AOSP yakju/mysid builds.

just finished this, and thank you for the tip, phone booted up in engrish, before it was in korean and within 10 mins i got system update from the big G :) happy now

i've tested phones for samsung for my work and when they have firmware that needs to be flashed and cant do it OTA they have us do this exact thing. You download the ODIN interface and the driver so your window computer can recognize the phone when you plug it in. and you hit start once COM has been established. It really is brainless, they released this for public consumption so you can imagine it having to be pretty straightforward without too much knowledge. Once complete the device reboots and you check your firmware version etc in the ABOUT PHONE.

@jsd_nj - click the xda link and download that android system info from marketplace and you can see all that

Download Android System Info app from market and it will shows what build came with the phone.

The ODIN method in #2 post on XDA is straight up conversion to official yakju with no rooting, no unlocking needed.

nevermind, i followed the post and am now running 4.0.2 yakuj .

Considering rooting now but not sure I want to.

Ive heard google wallet will work for me with root, and i also wouldnt mind the inverted gmail widget!

Hi everybody, I just got my Gnexus on January 13 in Canada and it's still running Android 4.01, I tried to update manually through system update but nothing is found.
I'm running Yakjuux, does anybody know where that's from?
should I change to Yakju or wait it out?
Thanks.

Really up to you, im in canada too and had yakjuux as well.

Did the process from xda thread and within 10 minutes recieved 4.0.2

Will installing a yakju rom allow for future updates? Or would flashing a new yakju rom be necessary?

kyle, when you flashed the yakju build you flashed it to 4.0.1 and then did 4.0.2 OTA right? What baseband do you have now? Just wondering because I flashed directly to 4.0.2 myself and didn't flash the baseband because I wanted to keep it Canadian-specific
