Help Brightness apps/widgets not working on ICS?

Does anyone know an app or widget that will work to alter the screen brightness in ICS? I used Brightness Rocker all the time on my old phone - it displays a brightness slider underneath the volume rocker when you change the volume - tap to change. The box still appears, but the slider does nothing.

I've just tried half a dozen more apps and widgets, but none of them do anything to he brightness. Any idea as to why this is, or if anything can be done? I'm used to changing my brightness all the time to exactly the percentage I want with just one click without leaving the app I'm in - I know there is the quick control widget with a brightness control that works, but it only has three settings and requires several taps to get there, and having to leave the app and go back in order to do it. Surely there's a better way out there - does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

PS just found Brightness Motion which changes your brightness with just a shake right to increase, left to decrease. Looks excellent, but doesn't work either. Is there something I'm missing??

yes. i use 2. first widgetsoid has a toggle where you can set 3 screen brightness levels + auto brightness. I keep that one just in my notification pulldown. widgetsoid lets you do that.

then i have an app called screen filter that you set a % to dim. It's like a 2 level switch. I have it set to 50% for example. So if I put brightness on 40% I can switch between 20 and 40 percent with one touch. I use the shortcut for it, not the widget. And I put the shortcut in my dock and it's always available to quickly increase or decrease brightness.

How do you do this with widgetsoid??

Ok I've figured out the problem I was having. I have Swipe Pad installed - for some reason this stops any app other than the stock widget from changing the brightness settings. I've disabled it for now, and hope that the dev can find a solution.

K i got it in pull down, how do I remove it from home screen without moving it from pulldown?

when you are creating a new widget go to advanced there's a box for notifications and right under a box to make the widget invisible. The box doesn't appear when you go back to edit it. Just when you first add it. Hope that helps
