Help Gray overlay?

I have a question. When I got off work today I took my phone out of my pocket it had like a gray overlay. It was like a render effect in cm7, but I didn't have any render effect applied. I rebooted and its fine now, but I'm wondering was that a software or hardware (backlight maybe) problem? Any ideas?

ive never seen that.

there are privacy apps that do that to limit the brightness output and make the screen harder to see from angles. so people next to you cant see your screen.

if you dont have any app like that installed, and it was a one time thing, I'd say it was a very strange random bug. if it was hardware I think it wouldnt have gone away after a reboot

That's true and I hope that it was just a glitch with cm7. I don't want to get a replacement. This one has been fine! I just hope it doesn't happen again...
