Root [DEV HELP] Custom Kernel

Slow down there speed racer ;)

Recovery was released today, I saw this and numerous questions asking for all kinds of things today, it hasn't even been one day and everyone is asking for more, I get it you're excited but no need to flood the forum with requests. If you want something, build it and share it if you like. :)
I'm not trying to call you out, I just didn't want to flood any other threads

It makes sense, I know a lot of people were asking for a lot, I already made myself a personalized ROM, I just thought an OC'd kernel would be nice. I was thinking of compiling it, hence the "is anyone thinking of" because i do t want to start and have someone else doing the same thing as me. I kinda wanted a colloboration, if yoi will, of helping on making a usable kernel. Which is in fact Overclockable to speeds a little below, and above 1Ghz.

why dont you start off easy. like just making a custom kernel? you know before adding in about 400 lines of code to make it overclockable, after of course testing and reading the documents to find out how much voltage your chipset can even handle before it frys itself, im sure someone here would be willing to risk that moment of 1ghz for a brand new 100 dollar paperweight. so start pumping those kernels out

That's actually what I'm doing, I started last night, and I started to download source code off of Github. If I have to build it from the ground up then, I will. Obviously I'm not going to make it instantly OverClocked, that's stupid. I'm going to start by compiling a STOCK kernel, then slowly move on up. Now, Just because the CPU is Hard Set 800Mhz, doesn't mean that it's not overclockable. That's what we are told, sometimes you can't believe everything you hear.

Also, I wasn't referring to you telling me it's not overclockable... It's all over our forum, in a couple of post's. 1Ghz might be possible however...

start off low, and move up cause there is always the possibility you could brick the phone. This means the device would be rendered unusable and irrecoverable. :cool:

This is both the rom and kernel source to be merged with whatever you choose :) I'm excited about the potential of a new kernel but baby steps keep the phones without Metro Guard ticking, lol. I'm going to start some work some time this week and hopefully won't owe $10 for bricking my phone (but the risk is worth it to me). I haven't tried the new recovery yet...I'm kinda hoping for one that can be installed with just the flash_image binary. Also on the topic of the kernel I'd like to stick to one that's custom recovery ready.

from my test on teh prevail i could never get flash_image to work no matter what, so my hats off to ya if you figure out how

I've never owned a prevail but I have has success in tricking devices into taking the binary by pasting it in the /bin and then rebooting. I might not succeed but I'll try anyway ;) . I'll be dedicating some time to this project around Tuesday when I don't have to go to work, LOL.
