Help Help with flash of ascend M860

I hope that someone can help I have been flashing the ascend for going on six months and this past weekend I was asked to flash one and this phone was still running 2.1 update 1 at which time I flashed and put cyanogenMOD 7.2 released 9/13 not all the not MOD would work right so I was asked to try again with a differant version I went to Huawei website and downloaded the M860 V100R001C177B652(USAMetroPCS)(05010MLU) and insatlled it when it was done I used 3 seperate programs to root (ie.gingerbreak,z4root,universal androot) none of these would root the question is why and what can I do now. I need to get this right can anyone help? I hope that I have not broke any rules of the Forum and if I have I am sorry. I am at a loss this I have nvr came across and I have done several of these phones...................................
 
You don't need root to flash a rom...
Try flashing playfulmod to get 2.2

Oh.. follow the manual flash instructions on my guide if you used rommanager to flash before. I run into screwed flashes via rommanager all the time. IMO manually flashing is best
 
Tokenpoke I have read that and that is where I have learned what I do know from this thread but when I went back and took cm 7.2 I had installed the build from Huawei and this took my root away and now I can not seem to get root access to use rom manager and t.b. cause I no longer have root I want to install the MOD for lazy ascend it is not my phone I have the Marquee and its flashed and I am hoping that there will be a cm9 for mine but this ascend is the hardest that I hve run across and I have flashed over a hundred of them in the atl area you got any ideas????
 
Just flash clockwork mod manually backup your rom and then flash cm7.
Rom manager is not needed if the cwm 3005 is still up and available on the wiki or at unleasedprepaids. Net
 
when I go into the recovery to backup the screen is blue not green I can not backup or restore rom from before cause I had backed it up and I have the cwm on the sd can i do it from anywhere else other then the recovery? As to manually flashing I do not understand that part..

Hmm... seems the cwm files aren't available right now...

Shoot, I been gone too long.

Lemme see if I can find them floating around.
