Root My apps and specs after rooting with CWM

Papamalo

Android Enthusiast
With the help of several people here, (see them permanently thanked in my profile) I am now rooted with CWM, and Kerneled with Plague kernel, and over clocked at an average of 1.2 Ghz, even though I constantly re-set it to 1.8 Ghz.have installed custom recordings for the boostrap, notification, alarm, and ringer tones. (I run a recording studio so it's easy) Just to compare with other, and to check in I thought I'd compile a list of my current aps, and performances notes.

Apps:

dolphin browser
rom toolbox
Lookout mobile security
CPU Master
GPS tracker
Tricorder (nice trekkie app for reading all kinds of exotic activity)
Alarm Clock extreme
Youtube
weatherbig
Voice dailer
Voice recorder voice search
weather
my metro(can i ditch this is no ill effects?"
Quickboot flash player settings
Titanium backup
BusyBox
Superuser
ES file explorer
Root explorer
GO keyboard
Boot animation installer
ASTRO file manager
Applications manager (useless in my opinion)
Books
Calendar
Calculator
Camera
Car Home
Contacts
Facebook
Gallery
Gmail
Latitude
maps
market
memo
messaging
metro navigator
metro PCS easy WiFi
Metroweb
Navigation
news
phone
places
settings
swype
talk
twitter
video player.

Notes: phone is smooth operator, and really fast. so far not a single real problem.

Is there a way I can keep the CPU setting overclocked, and is there any stuff I can still remove?
;)

Thanks!

You can ditch mymetro (you'll have to pull the battery and reboot then all will be fine. You'll get a bunch of force closes for it when deleted),the weather app, swype, easy wifi, twitter, news, metronav, memo, all the calender apks, books, car home.

You can ditch metroweb to since you have dolphin BUT if you ditch dolphin make sure you download and install another browser before you do.

always more to learn about this phone.

So I can uninstall the easy WiFi and it won't affect this phone's ability to pick up WiFi?

Thanks.

Thanks!
By the way I am having a problem with the size of wallpaper.
Shinyside made me a custom png file from a jpeg I sent them.

while I am viewing it in gallery it is the perfect size.
When I try to "set as" wallpaper a cropper pops up demanding that I chose one third of the picture.
Why would they have it set up so you can see it perfectly, unless you want to use it as wall paper, and what can I do about that?

Thanks.

Same problem here...some pics will not go full screen. Have not had time to find a solution. Anybody have an answer?

You have to pick "no scroll" and then "crop scale" and crop the picture for widest area.

This once again proves that there is no serviceable need we could possibly have, that android market does not have an app for.

Victory for team Droidforum.

So nothing can be changed on the Esteem to allow me to capture the whole pic all the time everytime? I need app for that?

It's like they wasted the preview function entirely.

While we're on the subject, now that I have a double thick batter, all kind of cool apps, and am overclocking with my CWM root, is there any reason why I should go on an flash a ROM like gingeresteem extreme or something? I mean what more could it give me?

OP: I dont see why u need Titanium Backup if you have ROM Toolbox along with CPU Master. Just letting you know that those 2 apps are featured in the ROM Toolbox app. MetroWeb is actually the stock android browser just to let you know which is my favorite and actually trying to find a fix for it in the ICS Theme that was posted just today. Astro, Root, and ES are all also featured in ROM Toolbox. All of the MetroPCS apps can go if you would like also. I got rid of every single one except for MetroWeb and I just renamed that System/App file Browser.apk. Not saying you are doing things wrong, just trying to help out clear some memory for ya and help ya get rid of potential things that are taking up resources for the process. Also, I personally use the LG Keyboard so I got rid of Swype and considering that u have Go Keyboard installed, it would seem that you don't use it either.

I am still trying to figure out why I have Titanium on my phone. Using CWM for backups is much easier. Retro back to my Huawei M860 days I got used to Titanium, Root Explorer,SetCpu and Gemini to tweak it out on the stock rooted ROM.
ROM Toolbox is good but just have not had the time(or patience) to explore it thoroughly.
Like E said less is better app wise(why use 4 apps when you can download one to do everything:confused:)then again I dont think I will be running out of room on this phone like I did with the M860 anytime in the near future.;)

here is what i did and it worked fine for me:D

:DSo I am one happy camper lol. I found the wallpapers in the LGHome.apk and in Root Explorer I "extracted all" it moved an extracted copy to /sdcard/SpeedSoftware/Extracted in there i went into the file now just LGHome. In the file i went to res then to drawable-hdpi and i put the photo i wanted and just replaced an existing wallpaper(renaming the picture exactly) and i did the same for the "small" one too. Then I zipped it up and just moved the zipped file to system/app/ and replaced the LGHome.apk by deleting the LGHome.apk and then renaming the LGHome.apk.zip to LGHome.apk exactly and it installed it again, you'll know you did it right if the little lghome icon is there, and the picture was in the wallpapers :)
****IF YOU DON'T DO IT CORRECTLY YOU WONT BE ABLE TO GET HOME*****

I use a app called dodol wallpaper maker theres a free and paid version on the market place. It can use entire picture for wallpapers as well as making portrait wallpapers which android doesnt naturally allow you to do with those stupid crop arrows. And perfect land scape wallpapers as well as stiched wallpapers so you can have a diffrent wallpaper on all 7 of your home screens :D
