Help "Preparing SD card" "Removed SD card"

Can anyone help me with this problem please. I've had the same SD card in my DHD for several months without any issues. Yesterday for no apparent reason it suddenly stopped recognising the card. Every time I insert the card now it will flash up at the bottom of the screen "preparing SD card" but this is then quickly replaced by the message "SD card removed". It says that the card is removed when its clearly still in the slot. Is there any reason why it would be doing this and are there any solutions to resolve it. I want to avoid having to format my phone or card because I have a lot of content that I don't want to loose. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
have you tried any other cards in your phone,? ? ? also can you try the card in another phone or cardreader, just so you could narrow down if its the card or the phone,

have you installed any new apps recently that can change the sd contents or any updates,
 
It could be that the card is giving up the ghost on you.

Before you format it, try removing it and putting it in an SD card reader to see if you can't recover everything from it... try that and let us know if it helps at all??

This is what I meant when I said that I thought that the card was giving up the ghost ;)

It could be worth trying to put the card in a card reader to see if there is any data still on there that you can save, before binning it! :)

I have been having the same issue but I removed one sd card to insert another one so I could transfer the pictures from the 2nd one to my tablet. When I inserted the 2nd one my tablet says preparing sd card, after a couple seconds it said sd card removed please insert a new one. . I powered off my tablet and tried to reinsert the 1st sd card now it is doing what the second one did. When I put either of them into my husbands phone they both work. I don't understand what is going on or how to fix this
 
Just put a new 16gb SD card in LG LS720. Worked for some hours just laying on table then "SD card Removed" flashed on and off. Checked storage and card ok
Remove 16bg card reinsert, no help. Try 16gb in HTC EVO phone, no problem. Formatted card, no help. Different 4gb card in LG phone, no problem.
Removed an app on the LG phone that had access to storage, no problem so far.
