Root Q: how to get the update with GNM's recovery?

well the title says it all. if not with GNM's recovery, how do you go back to stock recovery?

A couple of options i would guess

Reinstall the stock recovery
Or
Have someone extract the radio.img from their commando that has the gingerbread software upgrade and make an update.zip for it then we build a custom rom for you and other.

Well how do you get back to stock recovery? The vibrate on my phone sounds like it's about to rattle off and I may need to replace this under warranty soon.

You need someone to copy the stock recovery img from their phone and then you reinstall it the same way you installed clockwork.

Yeah, I saved that backup of the original recovery the script created. How do reinstall it?

This past update didn't have anything important, but just in case the next one has something I want.

Don't bother. I reverse engineered the script so it can flash the stock recovery back, just to see what this update was like. And it's garbage. The ptt is useless, either tikl or voxer is better. Plus they closed the zergrush hole, so root is borked for now. I figure the big brains will eventually figure how to crack into this one, so I can go back to the good ole days... but for now this update is totally toxic....

Might be tough to find. Also, I tried to send scripts, but Gmail has been working like *bleep* on my phone since m100. Let me know if you got them, if not I'll email when I get home tomorrow.

you're still using the Gmail app? eh.... no dice. i guess i can wait til tomorrow.

and I was actually hoping you had saved the last update since that's how you said you got it lol

i wonder if i use inopath, will it first try and download the m080 update before it tries the m100 update..... hmmmmm....

edit: oh hell yeah, i have the m080 update stored. i activated inopath and that's the one it downloaded. soooo.... i uninstalled, did not freeze my bloat. what needs to be in place for the m080 to install? besides stock recovery.

edit edit: where are the updates stored when you defer them??? i set it to defer for a day.

Not condescending. Just the GMail app gave me problems. Specifically trying to send files. I'm not sure if that's the app you're using.

And I thought maybe you had saved the update, flashed the stock recovery, updated, then flashed the GNM recovery. Because that's what I'm trying to do.

but no, I wasn't trying to talk down to you, and I'm sorry if it appeared that way.

Sorry, my bad. I shouldn't even look at the boards after a 14 hr overnite... I was definitely being bitchy... f---.... *shakes head* anyways, once I get some coffee in me and recharge my phone, I'll copy the scripts to my netbook and zap it over to you. For the record I don't even know how to save the updates, I usually just go back to stock, use innopath to update, re-root, and then use titanium to re-de-bloat and get my apps back... if you could enlighten me on how to save stuff like that, I'd be more than happy to save everything that comes down the pipe... my last phone was an og Droid that I had ripped apart a zillion times (aka Frankendroid) and I miss how vibrant that community is. Sucks that such a diesel device as the commando has such a small audience...

What's the stuff in the folder fota? It has files named ipth and stuff, but the files are dated Dec 16.

I never got the email. Did it send?

Just so everyone knows, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES MANUALLY FLASH A VERIZON UPDATE.DAT! Figured that out the hard way...
Although, if someone can get the M100 .dat file that the Commando downloads from Innopath, one could make a update to M100 with root already in the update!
This is the site for the M080 update.dat file; could be useful...
