No ICS for the Thunderbolt?

HTC has released a list of phones getting an upgrade to ICS and the Thunderbolt is nowhere to be found. They do say to stay tuned for further announcements but it's not looking good.

Why at least 4 different devs are working on an ics rom. Only thing missing is a working ril to get voice and data working. They have to build it from scratch. Other than that everything works on the builds. Its said liquid has gotten a working ril and just needs to put the finishing touches.

Who needs to wait on HTC or Verizon when we have devs great one to satisfy our sweet tooth .

Most people never root their phones and I'm in that group. This is a bummer for people like me

I respect your choice of not wanting to root. Just remember we have one of the easiest phones to root and we have people that can help you root your phone when you decide to. I can tell you I have ran some of the ics roms with voice and data not working and its so much quicker and smoother than any sense rom or aosp rom or even stock.

This is so true. I was a first time rooter and got great support from the boards. I highly recommend rooting. It's made a world of difference in how the phone functions. I liked it pre-root but I LOVE it after rooting.

Keep in mind that some CAN'T root their phones. I would LOVE ICS but I connect my phone to my company's EAS server and I'm not sure if there are any job security implications related to hacking the phone (it's also on a company plan) and connecting it to the company servers.

I'm in the same boat. I rooted my PPC-6700 way back when and it was awesome. But now if I want to connect to my company's email server, they have somehow put a check in there that looks for whether or not your phone is rooted. Sucks.

I haven't rooted mine only because I'm relatively new to Android and don't want to chance messing up the phone. The TBolt does everything I need it to do without problems, so I'm happy with it as it is. I can upgrade by November, so I will keep the TBolt so I can root it and play with roms once I've upgraded to another phone. :) It'll be interesting to see if/when an official update to ICS is released for this phone, though.

I thought the latest OTA couldn't be rooted.

I would love to flash ICS, but probably won't look at it for a while...too many missing things at the moment, all the critical stuffs.
