Help Default Notification Sounds keep changing

Anblick

Lurker
I have a stock Thunderbolt and use Ringo Lite to manage ringtones/notification tones since I like having different ones for different contacts. To use Ringo Lite, I need my default notification sound set to "Silent" (otherwise it'll try to play both at the same time) - which I do, but it keeps constantly resetting to other tones on my phone after a while. This usually happens if I reboot it or change the battery (which reboots it), but has at least once happened overnight (I suppose it could have reset like it occasionally does while I was asleep). It always seems to change it to one of 4 other ringtones and not in any set pattern that I can discern. Anyone know how to get it to STAY with the default tone of "Silent" for notifications?

Check this post. I know it was for a different phone, but it sound very similar to the problem you are having.

I tried that. And I guess I was misstating my problem. It's the default message notification that keeps changing (and needs to be set to silent). I didn't see a place to set that in Tone picker. - But I do like the one stop shopping location for all the volumes that it has.

I'll have to check it out, as I said over there, I haven't used it. try setting it here (Settings | Sound | Default notification) You should get the same pop up asking which you want to use (I probably should have mentioned that over in the other thread). If this doesn't work, I'll dig in for you.

No luck. The setting I'm referring to is when I select the little paint pallette at the bottom of the screen, then select "Notification Sound." There are then 4 types of notification settings to be changed - Default Notification, Message, Calendar, and Email. I keep trying to set "Message" to silent so that Ringo doesn't "overlap" when I get a text message from someone. My phone keeps deciding that I didn't really want that set to silent.

On a side note - after I installed the Tone Picker app, my notifications from Facebook started going nuts. Each notification would play about 5 times and in a "stuttering effect" no mattter which program I told it to use for the notification sound. It stopped when I uninstalled Tone Picker.

OK, sorry about the Tone Picker mess. I am not familiar with Sense, but my wife has a sense phone with a different notification problem. I'll be fixing that this weekend (I hope) and I'll see if I can find anything to help you while I'm at it.:)

Not sure if this answers your questions....

Settings
Sound
Volume
Uncheck box

This will separate your notification volume from ringtone volume

Your issue is stemming from the .9 update. The update had a fix for people experiencing the changing tone issue but for some who never had that issue the update caused it to happen.

The only solution ( I can say for myself it worked) is to do a factory reset. The reset with properly configure the update and fix the issue.

Hope this helps

Thanks. Not Sure I want to go through the hassle of reinstalling all my apps, etc. If it gets too annoying though, I'll know how to fix it.
