Help Duplicated headers in sent mail (imap)

Hello,

On my Galaxy Tab, I used the built in email client to send some emails via a generic (not gmail) IMAP account.

The emails went through fine but I noticed the copy saved to my sent mail folder had several duplicated headers -- 4 or 5 From: lines, Subject: lines, etc.

So my sent mail headers look something like:

From: Steven Frank
From: Steven Frank
From: Steven Frank
From: Steven Frank
Subject: Hello
Subject: Hello
Subject: Hello

...when viewed from a desktop email client. (that's just one message!)

Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions to fix? (I like Samsung's email client better than K-9 so I'm hoping not to have to switch apps.)

I am not experiencing the problem in K-9, or any other email application. I prefer the built-in one, though. :(
 
I have the exact same problem. The message that gets actually sent to the recipient is fine: no duplicate headers. The message copied to the Sent folder has the duplicate headers you describe. I also experience the following issues using the built in Galaxy Tab E-mail client:


  • does not show sent messages sent from another phone/computer in Sent folder
  • no support for subfolders (are shown as name1.name2)
  • no push-mail (max 5 minutes check)
  • random crashes

Although the split view of folders and messages looks nice, I am not quite satisfied with this E-mail client as my main tool for reading E-mail. I'll try K9 next.
 
Well, I'm glad to hear it's not just me. But sad to hear it seems to be a legitimate bug.

Is there any channel to report bugs like this to Samsung?
 
I also just noticed the problem but have to disagree with RichieB. I sent an E-mail from my GMail account to myself at another domain and the message I got had multiple reply-to and other headers in it.
 
I am using SMTP to postfix. Perhaps postfix is smart enough to fix the headers when it used as a first line MTA.
 
That's possible. I use the default connection to Google Mail to send and receive. Interestingly, when I open the browser and send a message to myself from GMail in the browser it's fine. So, it would appear the problem is most likely in the Tab e-mail app itself. Hopefully, they will find and fix the problem.
 
I am also having this issue, except on a samsung epic 4g running the leaked froyo build. Looking at emails I sent before upgrading, they did not have this issue.
 
I "solved" it by simply doing all my mail in GMail in the browser directly. I no longer use the built-in e-mail application.
 
Old thread, I know, but just started using a Galaxy Mini and am encountering the exact same problem - this thread was the only hit I got after much googling.

Android v2.3.4 and Mail by Samsung v2.3.4 (I assume they're pegging their version number to the Android release), and there's clearly a bug when mail gets filed to the IMAP 'Sent' folder - Recipient gets a perfectly normal looking email, but multiple header entries appear both up on the server and on PC (Mac OSX in my case) email client.

Quite happy with the Mail App apart from this, 2 IMAP accounts to keep an eye on my mb and it does the job fine.

So guess I'll spend a bit more time and see if I can find a decent route to send a bugfix request to Samsung - I'd think they'd want to fix this, doubt it would turn out to be a mammoth task.

Kind of - as others above, by switching to K9 mail :) !

K9 is slightly more complicated to set up, but is free, full featured, well maintained, and 'cause it's a group community project maintained by dedicated enthusiasts, thankfully no irritating advertising.

I did submit a bug report to Samsung which finally got through to an 'appropriate' destination:
