R-Box Rockchip 2918 Google TV

Hello,

I bought some of the Rockchip boxes, too. It was described as the 3x USB version, but now I received this box with 4x USB.

I tried to connect the box to my PC, but I wasn't able to do that. I did the following steps:

-Android TV Box is off, AC adaptor plugged in
-Connected PC and TV Box with a USB cable
-Press the reset button, then press the power button while still holding reset button
=> Here no progress is visible (status LED not active, Windows 7 doesn't recognize any hardware, Box will do nothing), until I release the reset button. Then the box starts ordinary.

The rest of the box works fine. But I must have root access, due I don't connect the box to a television, but to a stereo receiver (which has no display). Having no display for my GUI I want to control the box via VNC from my Computer (droic VNC server App).

Please help me to get this Box connected to my PC to update firmware to root access. Or is there any other way to do this without USB connection?

now get root only modify firmware with rk29xtools, other way don't known (i test some popular solutions for android 2.3 - all worked)

desirable you need original firmware to modify.

i can offer to upgrade via sdcard - test it:
put firmware to / sdcard and reboot with hold reboot button

P.S. i install droic VNC server and couldnt start this apps =) (not work with our device?)
 
According to you is the ability to install avia media player? It 's really a shame, poached having connected a 300 gb hdd is very slow and slow cataloging and playback of photos, it is almost impossible to see them

if you can't find rk29xtools please test it
1) download clamelmod firmaware (link up)
2) put to sdcard (put to root sdcard)
3) shutdown tvbox, hold reset button and powerup
now must upgrading starting progress wait 1-10 min

I tried to do these steps. But when I come to step 3, it fails. Holding the reset button and then touching the power button it will result in nothing. Nothing happens, until I release the reset button. Then Android will start ordinary, no upgrade process is starting.

How to start the upgrade with my Box? There has to be a way to do a firmware upgrade.
 
Go to the MaxQ website and download their firmware update. It contains a utility to connect with the device USB port and then upgrade with clamelmod.

I Confirmed too, VNC server don't works, aplication crash saying: conecting ...

I got remote control tv box via WIFI using PicMe aplication, you can get it http://androwave.googlecode.com/files/com.bw.picme.apk, use live option.
The problem is that WIFI sometimes don't work, I'm using clamelmod 1.0, i solve issue instaling Remote Web Desktop from android market, this app not works as remote control but solve my wifi problem and then i can use PicMe
 
Hello everyone, I have the rom clamelmod with superuser and unfortunately there is the possibility of using the dlna ... I wanted to manually enter the file dlna.apk in system / app root through explorer, but I always get the error: Because The cannon you paste here the file system read-only. On my galaxy s2 works well. What could be the problem? Mount the key R / W is disabled. By SuperUser Root Explorer is enabled with root permissions. I do not know how to enable dlna.

I've got the same box from the same seller as you. Did you manage to change the ROM to a newer version?
If the box is unused for a longer time I have to reset it, because the power button is not turning it on...
I can browse the internet, but the Market is saying I'm not connected :confused: Maybe I should do a factory reset

;) I didn't change the ROM.
I also have some problem after some days with restarting my box. The HDMI TV input not recognize my box. I should disconnect the power and after this set again the time and date.
Usually I visit the Android market form PC and downloading application to my box from PC (is much faster and simply).:D

This only will give you control over your PC from your Android TV Box, or not? I want to get the reverse direction: Controlling my TV Box (which's not connected to a TV, just temporarily to a projector) from my PC.



Is there any way to update the firmware of the 4x USB Box? The SD Card Version and Rockchip Batch Tool won't work.

There's also no menu entry to enable USB connection to the TV Box. My Android phone has some entry to enable/disable USB connection. How to do this with my TV Box?

The other problems are not annoying, just that I have to restart :confused:
That's why I'm hoping for a rom update. Would be good so see someone already doing that...
BTW my remote control battery was already dead when I received the box, I had to replace it (not a big issue, just inconvenient)

P.S: I'm trying out a different AC/DC adapter, as the original lookeded crap, no freezes since that and the remote control is more responsive than before. You were right, the market problems were linked to incorrect date/time settings, "update from network" was not syncing the time sometimes. After I've set the date/time manually, the market was back
 
Hi guys,
any thoughts on weather this box is better than the flexi view box?
stability, 2.2 vs 2.3, HD playback, firmwear etc?

also a big part of getting a Gbox is to play PC stored dixv files via wifi. is this ok or shuddery?

you are talking about slave mode for the usb, there is one but its inside the unit and it is for flashing only, as well there is another reset button inside.


the good news they exist but the bad news clamelmod rom will not work as have just bricked my unit :o

if you find other rom that may work, please let me know.

worked and as well its rooted already :D BUT i lost all led lights, so no status led.

amazingly the optic outlet is working now where with the original rom it wasnt.


i have not see fully tested it, i will update this post if i found more incompatibility.

How did you flash this firmware? I have the same box. Please explain steps taken to flash. My computer does not see my box when hooked up to cpu. THanks in adance.
