Root Using miui elements in CM7

Hey, Im currently running CM9 and have been loving it for about about two weeks now. Before that, I was on MIUI since November, so ive grown used to MIUI. The thing i miss the most is the default sms icon that you get in the notification bar . I also love the default sms sound when you get a message.

Any way, that I could somehow put the MIUI default sms sound and icon my CM9 Triumph?

Edit. Running Cm9 not cm7.
 
It would be fairly easy to do. You would have to edit the framework-res.apk to get the sms icon though. I may be able to do it for you if you want.

Edit: Also what is the default sms sound on miui? There's like 20 different ones... So do you know what it is called?
 
the default is fade-in or fade-out for sms. its ok

i like "Piano" its basically the iPhone sms tone with a a piano instead of bells.


Zedge app will have the miui ringtones.

as for the status bar icon, i think there are some MIUI cm7 themes that do change that.

I use a really old mdpi theme by zdune for my old OV and it has that icon for sms

Ok here is the edited mms.apk which should have made the status icons the miui ones. Put it in /system/app with a file explorer that has root permission (root explorer, or es file explorer), then reboot and you should have the miui icons. Test it and let me know. And to enable root with es file explorer menu>settings> check the root explorer checkbox and the mount file system then go back then select favorites and choose "/" then go to system/app and put the mms.apk there and overwrite the other one. Let me know if it works :D

Just put them in /system/media/audio/notifications and reboot and you should be able to select it. if not try putting them in /system/media/audio/ringtones. Just click the names. I had to upload them to mediafire as AF doesn't support .ogg atachments.

is this the MIUI messaging app? because i love the MIUI messaging app and was really hoping its possible to get to CM9 when i switch to it (once they get the camera)
 
Is there a way to get the whole messaging app? I hate stock android because of the fact that they don't have a pop up for new messages. And I'm not a huge fan of hand cent.

I'm not so sure that it would install. There are apps like chomp and another I can't think of that can have pop ups that you can reply to. If you want to try to get the miui messaging app just take "mms.apk" from the miui zip. It's located in /system/app and replace the one in cm9 and reboot. I can't test it myself so I don't know if it would work or just force close.

Well for the sound yes... Not for the icon since that is for cm9, but I can put in the cm7-reloaded messaging app if you would like.

ha thanks man but i just copied all the sounds over with root explorer, oh well, but do you think taking the mms.apk from miui and replacing it with stock mms on cm7 would screw anything up?

It might... It might also not work and just force close. The only way to know is to try. Just make sure you have the cm7 mms.apk backed up so you can replace it if the miui one doesn't work. If it doesn't work and you just want the cm7 mms.apk to look like miui's then I could switch out the .pngs.
