Root Still on ZVA on my esteem

has anyone got a copy of ZVA? i got my replacement esteem 3 days ago, it came with the zvc update i thought it was problem free but every 12 hrs if not once a day, when the screen is off it lights up with metropcs logo for about 3 seconds then goes back to homescreen as if it had rebooted & starts everything over again, is that considered a reboot? i know its not as bad as my other esteem i replaced but id like this to not happen at all, ive been reading on the forums that supposively LG is coming out with another update & that the problem is considered to be how our sim cards connects with their network but my problem happens when on wifi too , so what does wifi have to do with anything if am not using the network when it happens, am basically using my home internet connection, just saying...

Wow..feel bad for you...bad phone & exchange and a new problem. Are you still entirely out of box? What a mean by that is stock launcher..added a few apps.
Strange "reboot"
Never heard back from him in regards to pulling the A:thumbdown:

not really i use go launcher, tbh i dont think apps are what's causing the reboots, i think its just the phone itself that has a defect, when i got my first esteem in november i had go launcher and most of the apps i have now, then around december my rebooting problems began & i had the same apps. am just looking for a solution whether it be giving ZVA a try or waiting on new update, this issue am having is not really annoying as it only does it once a day & lasts 3-5 seconds but i want it to function normally without any strange reboots or w/e it is that happens to it .

I had the EXACT same problem but I had it after updating my Go Launcher to 2.65! Then I read you are using it so I think it may be the version you are using. My phone would show the Metro logo, no LG logo at all then would wind up booting to the homescreen a few min later.

I rolled mine back to a 2.63 version that did not have a reboot problem and havent updated it since, so it may be the issue. I see it is up to 2.80 now. Maybe I could try and update and see if I have the problem again.

Edit: ok, I will test new go launcher version 2.80. I am currently at 558hours uptime. Lets see how long it stays on lol

how did you downgrade to that version ? i dont think it will stop the problem if that's what's causing it, as i have the latest go launcher version & i have the problem.

It was awhile back that I had the problem after I upgraded from 2.63 to 2.65. I downgraded by restoring my titianium backup of 2.63. Havent had the problem since. I was afraid I might start getting the same strange rebooting problem so I quit updating it. I am now on 2.80 but I will have to wait and see what happens. I also have backups of every version of any apk I have ever installed using ES File Manger, including the 2.63 version. I will try and upload it somewhere tomorrow if ya wanna try it out.

i have titanium backup too, i downgraded to 2.63 by finding the apk online, i unplugged it about 15 mins ago & it was turned off, so now ill see how long the uptime is, if longer than 12 hrs then ill assume it fixed the problem, ill keep u posted. :)

its been 14 hrs & 10 mins and so far no strange boots to homescreen, am guessing this fixed the problem & the latest go launcher was the problem, i wonder if this issue is just on our phones or if other phones (not esteems) have this issue too.

*update - the phone booted to homescreen right before bed, i locked it then tried unlocking it again but when i tried unlocking it, it became unresponsive & 10 secs later it booted to the metro screen for 5 seconds, then back to homescreen. guess ill just wait on an update or downgrade to zva if it ever becomes available, btw the uptime was 17 hrs & about 5 mins.

I have finally rooted my phone after a week of trying to figure out why it wouldnt root. I found out I didn't have adb on my computer and it was a key component in rooting my phone. ( I do not take credit for this, credit goes out too the people who made this root possible.)

If you get stuck on the screen where it says "daemon successfully started" and you don't get passed that, follow this thread and this should help you out.

I used the pre-packaged adb installation method. I found it to be much easier. Just follow the instructions, it also has a video showing you how to do it.
When plugging in your phone make sure you have usb debugging on. Or else it won't work.

After you get that done just follow the ZVD root guide. Make sure you install the drivers before you root. After just click the link to download the root. Follow this thread:

{guide x2} update to zvd/root zvd - Android Forums

Again I do not take credit for this. Credit goes to all the devs who made this root possible. A big thanks goes to gbiggie for helping me out along the process of rooting and devoting time to help out.

I downloaded the pre-loaded package, and things went a little different for me then what was showed on the video. For one, the SDK file is already unzipped when download, and the command promp flash on my screen when I click the Enveset Icon saying "The system can not find the patch specified." When I try to open the file location it read, "EnvSet refers to a location that is unavailable"

Did you make sure you save it to the actual hard drive?(also download the drivers just in case) The first thing after downloading adb is to find the file. When you find the file right click and have it open with windows explorer. When you extract the files it will ask you to save it. When you save the file only include c:\. After locate the sdk file on the c:\ drive of your computer. At this point plug in your phone and put on USB debugging. Then you double click on EnvSet. If you have problems pm me.

Hmm that's why it's not working properly. In order for it to work it's supposed to be saved on the hard drive of your computer. If anything pm me and I'll try to see what's going on. What are you running on your computer windows xp, vista, 7?

Windows 7. Thank you, and I have two things to say

1.)I had over looked the trouble shoot help in the link, I was able to download the ADB.

2.)I have Version MS910ZVC. Do I need to run the LG update tool?
