Root Anyone root the Samsung Exhibit II 4g T679

Worked perfectly once I figured out which usb driver to download. Still trying to figure out which things I can uninstall... using Titanium Backup and I love it!

If you go into the all things root subforum in the exhibit ii subforum, and go to how to root, the second post has a list of apps that are safe/unsafe to remove

I removed TWLauncher with Titanium Backup and now my phone wont boot.

I tried a factory reset and nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Is there an application that we can use to root with OSX? I don't have a windows PC and was wondering if the tools are even there to root with OSX. Thanks.

To anyone having trouble getting the pc to recognize that the Samsung Exhibit II is connected:
Use only the Samsung data cable. A generic one won't work. I had the same problem using a usb data cable from an old LG on my Samsung. It would charge the battery but that was all. Once I switched to the Samsung cable that came with my phone, everything went fine. (Of course, you still need to install the Exhibit drivers; works with Exhibit II)

BTW, works fine on Mac with VMWare running Win XP.

ZergRush zip file attached.Install the phone drivers on your pc, in your phone turn usb debugging on, plug your phone into your pc and let the drivers install.Unzip the zergRush file to a new folder on your desktop, open the folder and click on the .bat file and let it run ;). To check if you rooted...you should see apps called superuser and terminal emulator in your app draw. You can also download root checker from the market to verify...enjoy.

This WORKS for the Exhibit 4g ll and Exhibit 4g.

Ok I'm going nuts here!! I'm not a total noob and I realize I need the developer's kit to get this to work. I've downloaded what I thought was needed. The batch file still can't find "adb" to get this all to work. What am I missing? Please help!

Got it!! Nevermind!!

this does not work for me it installed terminal emulator but nothing else it also tells me the phone is not rooted....im such a noob:/....

Thanks! Just did it! Works great!

I was freaking out when it didn't recognized my sd card after the root, but a simple reboot was in order!

Go to the app store and download the titanium backup (free version will do) and start freezing if not sure, and uninstalling if sure

I may yet root my Exhibit ii 4g to remove crapware. Found I can get the wifi hotspot to work with foxfi app without any problems. Using the walmart $30 plan with 100 mins and 5GB 4G data which now provides hotpsot and unlimited oubound calling using grooveip. Amazing deal and happy with the phone (unrooted so far). Google voice and grooveip finally working well (had to tweak settings and set buffer to shortest to get working properly).

has anyone done speed tests before and after the root? I have worked for 2 days checking, and where I am right now is edge only, but my speeds have been constant at ~ 105 Kbps download and 150 - 170 Kbps upload AFTER root, but was only 45 - 60 Kbps download and 90 - 100 Kbps upload before root (before root speeds tested @ 1 hour intervals for 2 weeks, after root 1 hour intervals for just over 2 days).

Had mine rooted and unlocked today and had it done by some else as I was not comforable doing it my self.just have to download a couple of apps so I can get rid of the garbage T-Mobile put on and that I'll never use

Hi Groucheebear7!

I get an error message that says in part wait-for-device
any suggestions?

i followed the instructions here...... and also at the same time ran the AutomatedDebloater.bat as suggested on another forum:
Remove Pre-Installed First Party T-Mobile/Samsung Apps From Galaxy S II With Automated Debloater | Redmond Pie

Since the, my mobile shows a black screen with SAMSUNG flowing in the center. Other than that, i tried to make a call, it does ring and i am able to pick up. But other than that, i don't see anything, i can't do anything, i am not sure what has happened. I am a newbee and I probably a little too bold steps to clean up bloatware.

someone please help. i am screwed. :-(
