Help How to change the name for paired Bluetooth devices?

Stander

Newbie
Hello!

A few days ago I bought a second car of the same make. Both cars have the bluetooth connectivity and they both have the same Bluetooth name "MB Bluetooth". Unfortunately HTC Desire HD does not allow to change the names of detected/paired devices so I am not able to set different names for each of my cars.
And here is my question. Do you know any Android apps that can change the names of paired Bluetooth devices?

Regards,

I've had a look and there doesn't appear to be anything on the market that will allow you to change bluetooth names remotely.

Doesn't it have to be done on the device you want to rename?

Unfortunately it is not possible to change the device name in my car so the name is the same in both cars.

I'm not sure if I really need to change the name remotely. I think I only need to change the name locally on my HTC device so that I can have two separate items on the list e.g. "MB Bluetooth 1" and "MB Bluetooth 2".
I made a test using my wife's Nokia and I was able to save each car under different (custom) names.

Thanks a lot!
Maybe such connection names are stored somewhere (in some file) in the Android system and if I had my device rooted I could edit and modify such a file (?)
