Quick question.. that slot with red around it is the micro USB yes? Haven't most of HTC's new phones been bottom-slotted? Or am I completely off on this? (for personal curiousity)

Yea, they have been bottom slotted, but the Moto Droid is on the side, same side just top end of phone. I think this location on side makes better sense for GPS car docks and bedside clock docks.

In the side

I gotta tell ya...after seeing the Desire, this one just doesn't do it for me. I know the specs are great, but the Desire looks hot!

I agree.. I could deal with the different shape/design of the backplate, but the bright @ss red is a little much. If only the buttons were red it would be kinda cool, but once that backplate is on it is going to be overkill (IMO). But, it hasn't even been officially released yet, so who knows what the official version will look like. I am still hoping for it to be black.

With the shiny black front, a matching shiny black back would like sleek and sexy.

Okay this is lame, I am using sleek and sexy to describe a phone. WTF is my problem lol

So will the official name be Incredible or will it get a Droid + _Insert name here_ tag affixed to it as well?

Looks like all 3 pics are of the phone with the back taken off cause you can see the sharp lip from the back of the screen portion where the back cover would normally fill in the gap in the pic with the Incredible in the foreground.

Also that isn't a silver joystick its just the lighting at that angle.

Thanks!

Do most cell phones have the whole back come off like that? I noticed on a pic of the N1, only like half the back opens to take the battery off. Do most of the newer ones remove the whole plate like that?

I have a droid eris right now and I've messed with a TP2 before. So far both of those phones have the entire back come off. This seems to be the trend that HTC is going towards since I would assume it makes doing anything easier(changing battery, swapping microSD card, servicing phone, etc.) than having multiple covers like a G1, 2G iPhone, etc. I don't really see the harm in it since it is pretty unlikely you will remove and install the cover enough times to wear it out and have it not stay on in your course of owning the phone.

If you have ever taken apart an iphone 3G though you will notice something it has that i've yet to see in other candybar style phones. When you remove the 2 screws on the bottom you can separate the back housing from the front and the reason it is so difficult is because there is a rubber seal around the outside of the screen that fits into a recessed part in the back not creating a waterproof seal but certainly moisture-resistant. I'd like to see HTC do something with the back that makes it seal better against the housing. I wouldn't even mind 4-8 screws and some sort of flexible seal to help keep junk out of it.

I remember swapping out the camera on my buddy's razr last year with a razr that had a broken screen and I couldn't believe the buildup of dirt and grime inside the phone when I took it apart. It was so much it even stank a little when I opened it. I'd hate for that to get into the htc and cause it to overheat because of lack of airflow but then again we probably won't have our phones long enough to experience that so.....cheers!

I agree and prefer it on the side for that very reason. Especially if you have seen how flimsy the n1 dock is.

Sorry, I'm still confused.. I know someone answered this before, but in the pic below, the thing circled in green... Thats a reflection? I could see the other white thing being one, but this? Man my eyes must be bad lol

Edit: It looks like a decal.. Like those ones on cars that makes it look like a baseball smashed into the window.. lol I dunno why, but it does to me

I think the phone looks pretty hot.

All blacked out with those red buttons looks sick. Definitely gonna stand out compared to the common grey/silver.........

Idk i think the phone looks hot. Black cover would make it look good though instead of red.

I hope the Incredible isn't using the same screen as the Nexus One and is having problems. Unless the thing is software problem then its fine. Hopefully it comes out soon, pleaseee no May or late April. MARCH

Yeah, a little red (the buttons) would make it catch your eye, but keep it classy. I just feel the red cover will make it look gaudy. What do you think the odds of HTC/VZW/Google coming out with interchangable backplates? Possibly with the android guy on them? I know in the video with the sprint guy there was a blackish android guy watermark on the back plate...

I don't think the possibility is that high.

Idk, yea a little red is good. If they do a black backplate with that blacked out front and red side buttons. The phone will look HOTT!!!

the backplate is definitely going to be pure RED.

100% sure even though it hasn't been officially released?

I agree with you like 85% though. The N1 looked the same from testing photos to the final product. I have a feeling it will be too. That's rough

Ok, a couple thoughts... First off, the back plate is most definitely shaped to accommodate the innards of the phone. I can deal with it being shaped funny if it serves a purpose.

Second, somebody already mentioned it, but this thing looks THICK next to the G1. That will turn me off faster than anything. Between the Incredible and the N1, I was leaning toward the Incredible, but this will send me right back to the N1.

I have to say I'm really having a hard time understanding why HTC is putting out so many models with relatively little to differentiate them. Take the Bravo/Passion/Desire and put a CDMA radio in it. Done and done. Why is that so hard?

I agree with him. If it was just a test model I doubt the rocker and USB port would be red. That is probably as near as you are going to get to a final model. I would say 99% sure though. ;)

Reginald VelJohnson, I think it looks thinner than the G1, but these pics do leave that up for debate. I imagine it will be very close to the N1 in size.

I also don't think the multitouch problem will hold this phone up. This is a hardware problem. Maybe they can fix the drivers, but it isn't an android problem and it isn't new. This has been known since the G1 came out and was hacked with multi touch. Developers in my company who work with devices (thankfully I don't) have complained about HTC. They fill the phone with some great parts and then cheap out on other parts which ruins the experience a bit.

I guess I don't mind it being thicker. I appreciate having a heftier-built phone than something too thin that it's going to buckle/break when dropped or knocked around. Either way - this is my next phone.

Question looking at the pictures I am wondering if the back plate is red or if it comes with a black and red one. Look at the picture with back plate off. If that is the red back plate in the background you can see that the back plate has the side notched out to go around the rocker button and USB plug on the side.

Now look at the picture of it side by side with the G1. If the back plate has notches to go around the sides of the rocker buttons wouldn’t we be able to see the red in the back plate from this picture also? Just a thought.

I can't wait I've been waiting for so long 1st. the Omnia II then the droid came out. was hoping the HD2 was going verizon but that didn't happen. Now the Incredible which hopefully be the phone I get. I don't mind the red back plate would prefer black. I think the red will be the red from Disney "The Incredibles" not Verizon red. Most people have phone covers so if you don't like the red there are options to hide it. Either way I'm still waiting ....

whats 2 more months extra waiting for may if i have already been waiting since september.. 7 months overdue for a new phone with my awful lg venus. shitballs.

You make me feel better. My ENV2 won't take a charge so I have to swap batteries with my husband every few days. It's getting tiresome. MY NE2 was up on 1/18 and I'm itching for a phone that actually does something. EnV2 has served me well but I'm ready for a big girl phone now.
