I agree with him. If it was just a test model I doubt the rocker and USB port would be red. That is probably as near as you are going to get to a final model. I would say 99% sure though. ;)

Reginald VelJohnson, I think it looks thinner than the G1, but these pics do leave that up for debate. I imagine it will be very close to the N1 in size.

I also don't think the multitouch problem will hold this phone up. This is a hardware problem. Maybe they can fix the drivers, but it isn't an android problem and it isn't new. This has been known since the G1 came out and was hacked with multi touch. Developers in my company who work with devices (thankfully I don't) have complained about HTC. They fill the phone with some great parts and then cheap out on other parts which ruins the experience a bit.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with you. That kinda chaps my buns. Maybe there will be a replacement back plate.

Ok, a couple thoughts... First off, the back plate is most definitely shaped to accommodate the innards of the phone. I can deal with it being shaped funny if it serves a purpose.

Second, somebody already mentioned it, but this thing looks THICK next to the G1. That will turn me off faster than anything. Between the Incredible and the N1, I was leaning toward the Incredible, but this will send me right back to the N1.

I have to say I'm really having a hard time understanding why HTC is putting out so many models with relatively little to differentiate them. Take the Bravo/Passion/Desire and put a CDMA radio in it. Done and done. Why is that so hard?

Reading his tweets, he implies that the Incredible is thinner than the G1:

I may be going this alone, but I LOVE the RED! Call me crazy, but I do.
I do too. Much of my wardrobe is red and black so I'll be phoning in style.

But seriously, I mentioned on another thread that I think this is VZW red and is part of their branding scheme so that it will really be their flagship phone.

I know there is a lot of hang-up and debate on the backplate cover, but here's the thing. How many of you will either go out and buy an after-market cover (you know there will be one) or will have the backplate covered with a protective skin anyway? I know it adds a little bit of thickness to the phone, but I can't see spending a decent amount of cash for a phone with an $89 deductible to not put some sort of protective skin on it that protects it from accidental drops.

I went back and looked at the video from the "sprint guy" and you can see at the end. Like Minute 1:56 or something a close up of the phone and can just barely make out the red rocker buttons. They stick out ever so slightly. So they definitely fit in or match up well with the red back.

Reading his tweets, he implies that the Incredible is thinner than the G1:
I didn't mean to imply that it's equal to or greater than the G1, just that it's not as much thinner as I would expect from a modern bar phone with no keyboard. If it doesn't come in at < .5", I consider that unacceptable for me.

good point and the phone is still going to be a beast. There is no doubt about that. It'll be a good phone!

Do most cell phones have the whole back come off like that? I noticed on a pic of the N1, only like half the back opens to take the battery off. Do most of the newer ones remove the whole plate like that?

The whole back comes off of the Palm Pre. Not sure about any others.

Guess I should have watermarked them last night before sharing :) I have not read the entire thread sorry I don't have time, but I will confirm it is the same 3.7 in amoled screen from Samsung. The battery cover was red, sorry forgot to get pics with it on. I will try and answer anything else I can. As far as release... you never REALLY know but I had heard the 23rd of this month, although I heard some rumors yesterday that it could be May. My buddy with the phone did not know. If you have other questions let me know :D.

Oh and my name is Aaron not Austin, if anyone else writes about it and gives credit.

I can't wait I've been waiting for so long 1st. the Omnia II then the droid came out. was hoping the HD2 was going verizon but that didn't happen. Now the Incredible which hopefully be the phone I get. I don't mind the red back plate would prefer black. I think the red will be the red from Disney "The Incredibles" not Verizon red. Most people have phone covers so if you don't like the red there are options to hide it. Either way I'm still waiting ....

Real stretch ;) here but Verizon has partnered with Disney in the past.

I like the red personally, but I also know I won't be looking the back of the phone much. I read somewhere else (BGR I think) from someone claiming to work at verizon that the backs will be swappable. So you might be in luck.

Reginald VelJohnson, I agree that > .5" is too much.

In regard to May, if for some reason that did happen. There is someone who has inside info from Motorola (I think he is a PM, but I may be wrong) on howardforums that said there will be a mind blowing verizon device in june/july. The hint is toward the shadow which will be 4.3" without a keyboad, but will have MotoBlur :(. You can turn off Blur thankfully, so maybe it would be worth waiting one more month at that point for me. HTC would have screwed themselves out of my money then for taking too long with the software.

Know anything about memory? And thanks for posting.

I took 2 pictures (of the red rocker buttons) and outlined the area in blue.

Thank you Aaron for taking to the time to share the information you have with us! Is there anything you can share about RAM or processor speed?

Is this the final version or a test unit (or are the test units pretty much final?) Is it a real heavy phone? Thanks man!

New poster here. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone digging up some info on this phone. I was about to go purchase the Moto Droid yesterday then came across this thread. It took me all evening and this morning to read it but got some really good info. I'm now hooked to this phone.

Aaron, thanks for the info! Nice to have someone on here who has actually touched one.

On a side note, anyone notice this about the name?

INCREDIBLE

Probably just coincidence.
