Root Stuck at Formatting CACHE in CWM 2.5.1.8

Hey guys, question. I flashed the CWM 2.5.1.8 recovery to my Metro PCS Ascend on the stock 2.2. Booted into recovery just fine and was able to make a nandroid backup just fine. Was then going to flash PlayfulMod ROM, so I started the preparation steps of wiping data to have a clean flash. In CWM, I went to the wipe data/factory reset option and started. It got through Formatting DATA no problem then got to Formatting CACHE and has been stuck for quite a while (about 10 minutes as of this post). Normal?

I'm still searching for answers on the forums too but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to find the answer more quickly.

...and it's been stuck at formatting cache for 30+ minutes. Pulled the battery and tried again...stuck at formatting cache again.

Anyone?
