Eris to v2.x, when?

i know it is suppose to be there but i haven't seen anyone directly address this. is the pinch-thing-on-the-homescreen-to- see-all-seven-of-the-screens (<----like the name???:D:D) feature thing working???? it is not a huge deal ... just a cool thing to have

Yes, it's there. And it's called Leap.

Sorry if this was addressed earlier and i just missed it, but if for some reason we find this flash does not work as advertised, can we manually install the "official version" from PCDphones (crossing fingers that it will be posted there)

I mean after the OTA is out...

The number one thing I am looking forward to is performance increase and stability. If it does that, I don't care if they add any features. Ok, so I do, but you know what I mean.

Granted I have only been playing around with 2.1 for a few hours now, but it does seem to be much more stable to me. Menu's seem to load snappier, and overall the experience is much more smooth. Those who choose not to update sure have something to look forward to when the OTA releases.

Anyone? Manual install of Official VZ version later if we suddenly find a problem with the leaked ? Yes? No?

I could be wrong but a manual update wouldn't be necessary if the OTA they release is a different build from the one we have in this leak. If the build is different you should get the OTA as you normally would.

For give my ignorance but... Would the build be different? I mean to say, if VZ sends out a bug fixed version in three weeks, would it necessarily have a different build number?

Not sure, perhaps someone a little bit more well versed could answer this. I'm just going by my understanding of what I have read here so far.

I guess I am just trying to make sure that if something goes wrong, that i can do a manual flash fix after VZ sends out it's version, if necessary. I know that there is no way back to 1.5, so i want assurance that i can get the VZ version if the leaked is shown to be too buggy. We know that it won't brick the device, but I am still hesitant

From what I've gathered from reading here and at XDA, you can't roll back to 1.5 because 2.1 installs it's own bootloader. When the 2.1 bootloader recognizes that 1.5 is an older version, it rejects it. What does that mean to you? It means that there is a 99.9% chance that when the update is pushed out OTA, even if it's the same build number, you should be able to d/l it at(can't remember the name of the site that always hosts the updates). It should have the same bootloader, so it will push through to your phone without getting rejected because of an out of date build.

If the OTA does in fact come with a newer build number, it should go straight through to your phone as if you never flashed the leaked version.

for some reason I cant get any HTC widgets. I remember somebody posting about not being able to download HTC widgets from the "get more HTC widgets" menu, but I'm not even able to add a setting widget (such as bluetooth or wifi buttons). I go to the "settings" menu under "add HTC widget" and I just get a blank screen.

Anybody else having these problems?

Sorry if someone already answered but if you did a backup (like I did) and then did a restore(like I did) of everything, then it screws with your screens and your widgets. You will need to reflash the system and just restore sms/mms and individual programs but nothing else. I also found that when you sync the contacts, you loose any custom pics you may have had in you gmail contact list. I'm pissed about that

I ran into the same problem with the widgets and restoring. I was able to fix it with just a soft reset though. Not sure about the custom pics part though. I don't really use that.

Did you use the restore for your contacts, or did you resync with google after the flash?

NKT,

Have you happened to notice if this leaked version of 2.1 is the same build as you are testing? Older or newer? Thanks again for all your input in this forum!
