Help So I will be visiting Canada in a couple months...

So I'm visiting Canada for a wedding in a couple months and I'm on the Verizon CDMA GNex, and I'm fairly confident that despite having a sim card, I can't use the phone as is in Canada, but just to make sure, I can't use the phone to call, text, or use any data, correct? Even if I buy a sim card there?

Without using roaming of course =)

Make darned sure you turn off data roaming in the settings, unless you like multi-thousand-dollar VZW bills. :D

No, afaik you can't use it up there except via roaming (not sure if LTE is up there in certain places or not).

You'll be able to use 3g, text, and voice services subject to roaming charges, but I'm not too sure on 4g due to possible spectrum differences. Stick to wifi because data roaming is very expensive.

So basically if I don't want to pay for roaming, I should just turn my phone off and keep it in my room because it can't be used, right? lol

Call Verizon and pay for data on a daily, pro-rated basis. Works out to 2 bucks a day for mobile data. Well worth it, I say. AND, if you have Groove IP, don't make calls with your phone but use your Google Voice account over data instead and it's cheaper than ever.
