Help Headphones/Calling problem

Hey guys. So.. I don't know exactly if this is a problem..or whatever.

I was on headphones and somebody called. I picked up the call, I can hear the caller speaking but the caller cannot hear me. So I tried to call my friend's phone using my Note with the headphone plugged in, I can hear him through the headphone, but he cannot hear a word I said. I have to unplug my headphone to talk to the caller. The headphone is the one that came with the device.

I don't know if this is a problem or the headphone is not for calling. Just for music? But that seems pretty stupid. Or am I the stupid one here? Whichever. Help? Or if I am the stupid one, correct me?

Yeah, I did some research on this. It seems that it is by design that Samsung phones mute the mic if headphones are plugged in. I had to get a headset adapter to work around the issue and use my quality headphones while receiving calls.

I know that HTC and Nokia both allow headphones to be used in combination with the built in mic (which makes perfect sense to me), but apparently Samsung don't think this is a good idea. Go figure

I don't have such Problem.. I even have got call's while listening to music and everything was perfect!

I assume you are using a headset (with a built in mic). This also works for me and is the only work around that I know.

I had the same problem before with the headset that comes with the phone. You need to push the headset all the way inside, otherwise, you will hear their sound, but they cant hear you.

Hi Eric, so using a headset adapter can allow you to answer calls while a normal earphone is plugged in to the phone? Speaking into the mic? Can you share what a headset adapter looks like?

Hi Ken,

Yes, that is exactly the device I was referring to. I have one from HTC which works just fine but the mic is a bit insensitive. I would imagine that all cleap(er) adapters will have the same problem though.

I had the same issue with the stock headphones. If you are useing the headphones that came with the note make sure that the jack is fully pushed in. There should be no shaft showing.

...at the front of the device. You will definitely see approximately 2mm of the shaft when looking from the back due to the curved case.

Just wanted to make sure that there is nobody trying to hammer a jack into the device
