Rezound in other countries

So, I've been reading online about several anecdotal stories regarding the Rezound and using SIM cards from other countries to get voice/data without international roaming.

Can anyone actually confirm that they have done this and the steps they needed to "unlock" the Rezound to make it possible? I go to the UK and Belgium pretty frequently and this would be extremely helpful so I don't have to rent a mobile while i am there.

I'm also interested in the ability to use my Rezound in the UK as I'm going there for a two week vacation this summer.

i was on my online account and when i clicked on my device, i was surprised to see
"Unlock SIM (PUK) Now" and it gave me a pin and a code.
then I found this link
The truth about the htc rezound
so far have only read the first few posts, but it looks promising.

I just spent some time reading through all these threads. My head still hurts. Looks like the process is pretty straightforward but there is some confusion on exactly how and what is needed, including the codes.

If someone has a global sim or account and can list the steps and the codes that would be great. It seems that the data and text issues are overcome and that voice is pretty normal but a verified list of steps would be the last step in making this happen. I would imagine that the unlock code from verizon would be the same for all phones.

Thanks to all who have helped in this. The rest of us await with great anticipation.

I would like a simplified version too the 30 pages or so seemed to go off topic a lot with no clear cut method.

I just hope that on CDMA based networks it wouldn't charge me through verizon though. Like in Guam, Korea, or Japan. I had a second phone when I've gone there before that used a prepaid sim with no service in the states but it would be nice to only take one phone next time I have to go and just be able to switch out my LTE sim for my prepaid int'l.

I'm in Mexico at the moment and can verify that it is workin for me. The sim doesnt have credit for data, but voice is working. All I did was insert the sim and then go to tbe phone's menu (secret?) and then played with the different modes until it showed GSM in service. The fact that the unlock screen was still showing that it didn't recognize the sim did not matter though it did throw me off. I ended up using wcdma preferred but others might have worked, dont know.
It said the network was edge fwiw...
I'll try to get a sim with data later

BTW, I still don't know what that PUK code is for...

It's the unlocking code on the Sim card. Rezounds is locked to LTE/CDMA on big Red so it needs to be unlocked in order to become able to use GSM bands outside the US. Thus making the Rez a global capable phone.

So, now that the "Global" update has been released is using a SIM card from another country a realistic goal or is there a ROM that would enable a different carrier's SIM from a different country to work with the Rezound?

I just came back from a month trip in Jamaica. I used a LIME SIM card in the rezound, had no issues with calling/texting, could not use the data network though (prepaid). All I had to do was the unlock code (*#*#3646#*#*).

This was prior to the Rezound ICS upgrade I received once I arrived back in Atlanta, so hopefully it still works (unlock code not working).
